The Druchii House Tagarys is ancient, resplendent and extremely wealthy; based in Clar Karond, Malekith’s shipyard, they are Beastmasters of great renown, capable of bending even the dragons of Caledor to their will given the time. The Fighting Pits of the city use fierce creatures from the pens of House Tagarys on a daily basis, and pay extravagantly for the privilege. Since Rhaego Tagarys proved himself a true scion of the house, the Vaulkhars of Clar Karond has considered him one of their greatest assets. Rhaego has had six children, though only four of them still live - his eldest two sons (Beleria and Aemys) slaughtered on the order of Daereon, his third son, who has since fled due to Rhaego resenting his growing influence with the Vaulkhar. His two daughters, Rhaena and Daena, are exemplary examples of what Druchii noble-women should be.

Now, Viseryn Tagarys, the youngest son of this legendary Druchii, is about to come of age; on the cusp of adulthood, he is due to undertake his Hakseer cruise, the season-long raiding trip upon which all young nobles of the Druchii must establish their place within society, and prove themselves true descendants of Nagarythe. It is a chance to earn riches, prove himself both cunning and ferocious, and worthy of being a scion of his House.

Rhaego has organised for his son to sail on
The Bloodwrack, a corsair ship made of the blackoak found in the forests which border the city and bloodgrape vineyards, famous across Naggaroth. The vessel is crewed by the corsairs of Master Kourla, an experienced reaver, and they’re all as bloodthirsty as Viseryn is himself. The vessel has been refitted at House Tagarys’ expense, it truly looks worthy of the honour it has been bestowed. The black sails on the three masts bear the five-headed sigil of the House.

Beyond the
Bloodwrack, Rhaego has also organised retainers for his son, a group of Druchii of lesser station, but not necessary lesser ambition.

---

And this is where you come in! Those who sign up will be the retainers hired by Rhaego Tagarys for his son and heir. I don’t mind what position in society your Druchii come from - they can be lowborn soldiers who have come good, or lesser nobles who have fallen upon hard times and cannot refuse the offer of employment from such a patron - as long as the backstory is realistic and true to Druchii society; which likely means full of bloodshed and treachery!

The following rules will be enforced within the roleplay itself (basic stuff, I know, but a necessity):-

1) As GM, my word is final. If you have a problem with a decision I have made, by all means send me a PM and discuss it with me - I’ll happily do that, and try to solve any issues. I will not, however, be bullied into decisions by people in the OOC threads (I don’t expect this would happen, but I thought it wise to put it in!)?I also reserve the right to decline and/or ask for changes to sign-up sheets (but I will only do this to bring them into line with lore/in cases of sheets which really do not fit the roleplay)

2) To maintain the high quality of roleplays on Carpe Noctem, I would like to impose a limit of four sentences in accordance with the rules of the roleplaying forum (in cases of dialogue, I will make exceptions, but please don’t take advantage!)

3) Explicit language and graphic violence is accepted (in fact, I pretty much expect it from Druchii!). The IC Thread will include NSFW, so please be aware of that if you visit the site at work!

As added points, I am 1) currently looking for work, which could be anywhere up to 12 hour shifts, but I will work on this roleplay as and when I have the time - I will not ignore it, but if I don’t post for a few days, please forgive me, and just give me a gentle nudge! 2) well aware that this is my first roleplay! if you have my feedback, please, let me know!

Now, for the fun part - character creation!

I will accept a shade character, or even a vauvalka character, but I would want a good description of their powers, which would be restricted. Sorceress’ are a no-no.

Viseryn's Character Sheet
Name: Viseryn Flesh-flayer
Gender: Male
Age: 80
Druchii House: Targarys
Place of Origin: Clar Karond
Appearance: Viseryn is tall and graceful, moving with fluidity, with a thin, taut body. His face is also tall and angular, as are many Druchii, as well as pale to the point of whiteness. Set into it are piercing eyes, like chips of amethyst. His hair is dark, long and sleek, tied back into an intricately plaited ponytail. His dextrous fingers have sharpened nails long enough to cut flesh and draw blood, and are adorned with elegant, understated rings set with blood-red gems.
Personality: Viseryn is a cold, cunning and manipulative young druchii who despises weakness wherever he finds it. His cruelty goes beyond that of even normal druchii standards; he can spend days working on the flensed body of a slave or elf who has displeased him. Whilst he can be calculating, he is also prone to fits of anger and intense rages, especially when he’s in the midst of a fight. He is extremely ambitious and intolerant of those who would exploit him. ?Whilst he observes the correct Khainite rituals, and is a loyal servant of the Bloody-Handed God, he observes great dedication to the Cytharai as a whole - Atharti (Lady of Desire) and Anath Raema (The Savage Huntress) in particular. He has a particular love of the chase, setting slaves free and hunting them down cruelly, and then flaying them.
Background: Daereon is the youngest son and child of Rhaego Tagarys, one of the noted Beastlords of Clar Karond. His mother, Asharah, is a renowned beauty, and a member of the Clar Karond Convent - she is fiercely protective of her son, a fact he finds both irritating and pathetic. He has lived off of his fathers wealth, as well as some income he has managed to gather from beasts he has broken and sold to the Fighting Pits and the gambling he partakes in. The furthest he has been from the city of his birth so far is Hag Graef to the north and the ruins of ancient Quintex in the south on an expedition he had insisted he be allowed to accompany; there had been plenty of creatures to be caught and broken on that journey.
Recently, he has been preparing for his Hakseer, looking forward to the reaving he will undoubtedly be undertaking, as well as planning the route the Bloodwrack shall be taking, however much the ship’s Master dislikes it.
Equipment:
-Dwarf-hide kheitan
-Articulated plate armour - including pauldrons, vambraces, gauntlets
-Mail skirt
-Highborn sword (ie. longsword)
-Dagger
-Flensing knives (2)
-Sacrifical Daggers (2) (based on sai)
-Beastmaster’s whip
-Repeater Crossbow
Specialisation/Fighting Style: Viseryn has been helped to develop a fighting style which is a mix between standard swordplay and the use of the beastmaster’s whip, which is tipped with barbs and hooks which can tear the flesh from his enemies.

Name: Arkeith Varens

Gender: Male

Age: 323

Druchii House: Unknown. Rumoured to be Temple Trained.

Place of Origin: Har Ganeth

Appearance: Arkeith is a bald, remarkably pale Druchii of average height and extremely lean build appearing to be little more than muscle and bone giving him a cadaverous appearance. He has piercing pale gold eyes.

Personality:
Arkeith is a quiet elf, as cruel and vicious as any of his kind but apparently far less arrogant and far more secretive.
He is marked as a worthy retainer not only by his fighting ability but his remarkable lack of ambition. Arkeith makes a point of underplaying his abilities and hiding those he believes are not relevant.
The warrior spends a lot of time alone and predictably can be found in his quarters sitting cross-legged on the floor with the lights put out.
One of his traits is that he seems to appear quite faithful to the Lord of Murder although he avoids his temples and servants of whom he is oddly knowledgeable.

Background:
Arkeith has told no one of his origins, not even his master, but those intelligent enough to think for themselves have worked out their own version of the events that led Arkeith into the service of House Tagarys's youngest son. The most common tale which is popular amongst the aristocratic circles, being that Arkeith was given to the temple at a young age and raised to be one of Khaine's Assassins, at some point he left the Temple and went rogue although the reasons change dependant on who's telling it. It's unknown how long ago this way as the only certain information about him began over thirty years ago.
This was when he first entered the house's service as an unimportant guard his first duty was to accompany low-ranking slavers to the coasts of Bretonnia where he demonstrated a surprising ability to speak the tongue of the humans there. He remained of little notice to the House until, when attacked by two arrogant knights he displayed his fighting abilities whilst unarmed and unarmoured, by brutally disabled one elf despite the other's armour and sword before slitting the second's throat with the blade of the first. Since then Lord Rhaego decided to use Arkeith in a more serious capacity.
He has since been assigned to serve Viseryn who soon learnt of the rumours surrounding Arkeith's past and it became very clear that the elf could be quite loyal in return from sheltering the private man from outside factions.

Equipment:
All of Arkeith's equipment was given to him by Lord Rhaego when he first entered the House's service except the Sabre which was gifted to him shortly after he was sworn into Viseryn's service.

Sabre – A well forged but plain sabre, with a slight curve it is based on the cutlass but longer in length, under the hilt on the blade it bears the stamp of a well known swordsmith and on the opposite side the sigil of his Master's house. The Sabre is better than anything Arkeith could ever hope to purchase on his own.
Dagger – A simple, but well made, thin blade which hangs from Arkeith's belt next to his sword.
Hadrilkar – Arkeith's Hadrilkar is silver in colour, covered in ornate patterns, all of which are set around the House symbol; a five-headed hydra. It has been dulled by the retainer so that it does not shine in the light.
Heavy Black Cloak – Conceals his armour and weaponry, the cloak is hooded.
Armour – Consists of Articulated Breastplate, Greaves and Vambraces, a Mail Skirt over Leather Kheitan and Pauldrons which give the elf a deceptively bulky, intimidating appearance under the cloak. Felt is placed under the armour to muffle the sound of it's movements. Despite it's apparent bulk the high quality armour doesn't impede the wearers movement although it also isn't as protective as true Heavy Armour such as Plate. The armour is a dull grey that, when worn with his cloak, is well suited to merging with the shadows.

Specialisation/Fighting Style:
Close Range Expert - Arkeith is a skilled close range fighter, especially with bladed weaponry but in particular swords. He is also skilled in unarmed combat. In both of these forms of combat he relies foremost on speed although he is far stronger than his lean frame would lead one to believe. It is believed he hasn't demonstrated the full extent of his fighting ability yet in the service of House Tagarys.
Sabre Specialist - Arkeith is a master of the Sabre and is well practiced in using off-hand weapons, usually a dagger, however he feels that dual-weapon fighting is inherently flawed unless using a short weapon and even then only for one-on-one dueling situations, as such he avoids prolonged use of it.
Stealthy - He is also extremely adept at moving silently and undetected.

Name: Karochi Nag'Har

Gender: Male

Age: 150

Druchii House: Ghar-Rhun

Place of Origin: Naggarond

Appearance: Karochi is tall and lean, with very dark hair, and dark eyes that are unnerving to stare at for too long. He has pale skin.

Personality: Karochi is calm and patient, knowing that he who stabs last lives, and is more than willing to shift workloads without anyone knowing so he as the least job. He also normally goes last (or as near to last as possible) into any unexplored place. He enjoys scheming, and laying devious traps for those he does not like (or simply wants rid of). Despite this, he is, unusually for a Druchii, friendly to talk to, and loyal (as far as beneficial, but can sometimes conveniently forget loyalties) to those he 'likes', or as close as Druchii can like each other. he is also a skilled liar and manipulator, able to make people do or say things they would not have done for his own benefit. On the rare occasions when Karochi is not scheming, he talks to others to establish where their loyalties lie. He is also planning to overthrow Malekith and Morathi, but will not reveal this until he feels he has enough allies who will not abandon him at the drop of a hat.

Background: Karochi was brought up in the House of Ghaz-Rhun, with 3 sisters and a brother. he was born to wealthy parents-his father was a powerful Dreadlord high up in Druchii society, and his mother was the head Sorceress at her coven, where his sisters were acolytes. His brother was a very minor noble at his father's court, and Karochi himself was training to be his father's heir. Unfortunately, on one Blood Night his house was a target. When the Witch Elves came, his parents were absent, and had taken their entire guard with them. This left Karochi and his brother in the house. Karochi told his brother (who he didn't really like, even by Druchii standards) that he would go and find their sisters and make sure they were safe. While this was not a lie, it was not entirely true, either. Karochi's sisters had been sent to practise their limited magic skills elsewhere, and were safe. However, the trick worked, and Karochi snuck off, leaving his brother to die. After escaping, Karochi swore vengeance on Khaine's worshippers, the Witch Elves, and Morathi. he also swore to destroy Malekith, and become Witch King. After escaping from the Witch Elf attack, Karochi found Viseryn Tagarys, who had been a childhood associate, preparing for his Hakseer. Karochi joined, looking for allies in his quest against the Witch King and his mother. When Karochi's parents realised he was missing, they guessed what had happened, wished that he survived the Cauldron to become an Assassin and then struck him and his brother off the list of living relatives, and shared their sons' possessions and retinue amongst the surviving family members.

Equipment: All that Karochi managed to take with him after fleeing the Witch Elf raid on his house were two short swords, a bow strapped to his back, leather clothes, and night black chain armour. He also wears a metal helmet. On his chest plate he wears the symbol of House Tagarys, a five-headed hydra, which is also on his helmet. he had no time to take any money or any of his other prized possessions.

Specialisation/Fighting Style: Karochi prefers to fight with his tow short swords, ducking in and out of an enemy's reach, and inflicting damage while doing so. he is also skilled at seeing chinks in his opponent's armour, and if he has time he will inflict many tiny wounds to maximise his opponent's pain, and will sometimes casually walk around sidestepping blows with an unnatural speed. When advancing into archers he whirls his blades around his body to deflect arrows. hen likes chopping off hands to remove his opponents' fighting ability.

That's my bio. is it okay?

Name: Tullaris Aislinn

Gender: Male

Age: 278

Druchii House: None (High Elf)

Place of Origin: Har Ganeth

Appearance: Slim and athletic, pale skin tone, long white waist length hair and eagle sharp pale grey eyes.

Personality: Blunt and to the point, more than capable of intrigue he elects to seldom use in preferring sharp words and harsh truths, he does not enjoy company or anything that can be considered a social activity for that matter preferring to keep to his own company.
Due to this no matter the situation he will seek the quickest way to the end of it and will put considerable thought as to how to bring about that resolution however for all his lack of social graces he is a oddity in Dark Elf society being loyal beyond fault until betrayed himself.

Background: Originally a High Elf by Birth in Ulthuan he was birthed into a warrior family in Nagarythe, both his parents dying shortly after he was born he was passed from house to house until the age of 10 where during a raid of Ulthuans coast by a Daring raider under the guidance of Death Hag saw him leave his home land.
The raid by the corsairs taking a turn for the worse they were drove inland by reavers and shadow warriors both, stumbling across the remains of their party in the countryside not far from the home he was staying at that choice month he made himself known to them, the Death Hag and half a dozen Corsair that remained we're taken aback at his forwardness and his apparent willingness to help them accepted his offer to lead them back to the coast through the hidden ways through the near by country side having learned it well over the past few years as he was passed from home to home.

Upon reaching the coast and eventually the remainder of the dark elf force he demanded that he return with them to his home, please by the boys demands and actions the Hag agreed rather than just take him prisoner after his instrumental help in their escape they would take him with them to receive proper training.
Upon returning to Naggaroth young Tullaris was given over to the care of the towers learning their craft of war where either he would rise or fall.
Meeting expectations as they knew he would he fought his way to adulthood cutting aside any obstacle as he went.

Many years Later that same hag came to him again as she did from time to time and as they lay together she made a request of him, that he would help instruct a young head strong noble in the ways of warcraft and act as his loyal guard against all dangers.
With the completion of this he was promised greater power of his own, no longer a great warrior among many but a lord in his own right, the hag having always being true to her word in the past he agreed to the terms and took his leave of the tower with the grudging blessings of his towers captain.

he had no illusions why he had been asked this an not someone else, it was not all down to ability but in fact it was because of his blood, the Dark Elves Accepted him because of his actions and he came from their ancient home land but they trusted him to this task because they knew that he still had to loyalty of a High Elf and that was something they could expect from few others.

Equipment:

- Two Handed Draich (Sword)

- A Nobles Slim bladed Long Sword and Dagger

- Compact Repeater Hand Bow with Bolts

- Full Plate Body Armour

- Plate Helm with Terrifying Khaine Face Plate Design

- Razor Sharp Clawed Plate Gauntlets

- Sea Dragon Cloak

- Chalice of Khaine (a gift from his sponsor)

- A purse full of gold.

Specialisation/Fighting Style: With the grace of a duelist every movement is perfectly timed, no action is performed without need and is minimalist in its execution, every sweep of his blade nicking an artery or disabling a foe, slapping blades aside with the flat of his own and even his palms when required he directs his foes strength against them before delivering a swift killing blow and moving on before his foe has even sank to the floor.
Surprisingly however for all his heavy set stance he is a graceful warrior, every movement a work of art, his feet so sure footed so as to dance along a row of spear shafts before dispatching his foe in a display of skill as to rival Khainite Assassins themselves, due to this uncanny agility it often means any fight he will find himself in will be on the ground as and when of his own choosing pressing his advantage before his foe even knows he possesses it.

Coupe Du Grace: having Honed his skills over Hundreds of Years Tullaris has trained his body to be a perfect machine, each movement caused and change of pose a reaction to a hundred minuet changes in his enemies pose, expression and stance, his reflexes effortless honed to effortless precision through his wealth of battlefield experience he is able to tell where a death blow would fall for maximum effect.
Not only does this allow him to do so himself but it allows him to predict the movements of his foes, able to see these patterns in his enemies fighting styles he is just as easily able to parry blows that would see a lesser warrior cut in two and even at times turn this against his foe in turn or their allies to Tullaris infinite amusement.

Not my best bio but i think it should serve and brings something a little different to the mix.

I know you're not allowed Sorceresses, does this mean no magic/wizards allowed?

No worries, I have other ideas should magic be banned! xD

Edit: sorry about the early (nonsensical) post; my keyboard is under assault from a kitten!

I will be happy to take a vauvalka (a (generally) illegal male practitioner of sorcery/magic), but I will need a good description of what his powers are (nothing too extravagant) and any attempt to use magic will be dependant upon dice rolls (won't be too complex - all you would need to do is say '[insert name] draws upon the power of Dhar and tries to do ...' and I'd tell you whether it succeeded or not.

In addition to this, I would also like a background which explains how he has remained unkilled by Malekith's agents and how he came to be in the service of Viseryn and House Targarys :)

So ... Challenge accepted?

Makes things more interesting, besides its not fun if we all just have a bunch of evil cackling dark elves swileling around in office chairs stroking their respective witch elves...
On seconds thoughts... Lets just do that! :perv:

I'll post up my bio tomorrow (it's almost complete). How would you recommend describing powers (e.g. scale of 1-10, 1 being utterly incompetent, 10 being Morathi-level)? Or would you recommend detailing certain spells? Or something else entirely?

Edit: curses! Ninja'd!

I would detail a number of spells/cantrips/etc, and then give a 1-10 scale for each individual spell/cantrip/etc. Please don't have any more than 8, and I would ask that you only have one powerful spell, the others being between weak and moderate, but useful in their own ways - not as dangerous, and things like that :)

EDIT: I'll give you a limit of six spells/cantrips/etc, but remember that, whilst you may have gear approximate to the level of the others, your character will be less skilled with them. Can't make it too easy!

If no objections mate I would like to make a slight amendment to add more detail to my character in regards to his equipment and appearance as i did not have allot of time to do so prior.
Fairly minor changes but fits more with the look of my character.

Also wanted to ask as each of our characters have their own specialties such as magic or assassination could we in each case be permitted a Coup de Grace attack or action?
An example as my character is an executioner of sorts but also a high elf I may request that he have something akin to a mix between killing blow and a parry which you would find on a sword master where i could turn a foes attack against the acting effectively as a block but also a finishing attack in the same move.
Would this be acceptable?

If they're minor changes, it's fine - anything major, just let me know and I'll have another look at the character sheet, but I'm sure it'd be fine - you lot are experienced enough to know what is generally allowed and what is not

I will allow moves like this, yes, but not to be used commonly, say, against a skilled foe when you need to end a fight - it will be, as you say, a coup de grâce. If I feel that people are abusing these, I will stop allowing them. Again, I trust you lot to know what is and isn't acceptable, and where to draw the line :) Would you agree to that?

Name: Sinthair Thornblade
Gender: Male
Age: 460
Druchii House: Vaynelle
Place of Origin: Har Ganeth

Appearance: Sinthair is tall and powerful nearly as broad in the shoulder as a human; his every movement convoys all the dominating confidence of a hunting lion, he has the same angular features of all dark elves, his nose has been broken multiple times and he has a roping scar across his right cheek earned in a dual with a Swordmaster of Holth giving his face a permeate lopsided snarl his light grey eyes are ever vigilant and convoy one message “Threaten my charge and I shall break you” his canines are filed into sharpened points, he keeps his hair chopped off short in military fashion,

Personality: Sinthair is governed by one desire martial perfection a goal he has strived for his entire life; he has honed his body into the perfect killing instrument he eats his meat raw and mixes blood into his wine. He lives only for battle; he glares out at the world with the same glare as cold as Naggoraths winds. The most expression people can get from him is a raised eyebrow; only in battle does an amused half smile appear on his face. His voice is a deep growl and he answers questions in two or one word answers. He is a devote worshipper of Anath Raema, believing the Savage Huntress will lead him to worthy foes. He has no time for politics there are foes to slay, he answers only to the current ruler of the house whomever that may be

Background: Sinthair is the last surviving son of House Vaynelle long since destroyed on Death Night after losing favor with the Hags Sinthair fought his way out of the slaughter carving his way through three Witch elves and left his family to their fates, making his way disguised to Clar Karond, where he began a century long career as a Reaver, traveling to all corners of the world, and slaughtering the so called champions and nobles of the prey races, eventually he decided that there was to be more glory in serving a Nobel house, and finding House Targarys worthy he fought his way through their ranks cutting down all who bared his path. Upon reaching Lord Rhaego he lowered himself to one knee and offered his blade and oath of fealty. Lord Rhaego accepted having seen several of his greatest warriors cut down like mere slaves . Sinthair proved a dutiful and loyal carrying out all orders without hesitation or complaint to the letter until he was assigned to bodyguard Rhaego’s newborn son Viseryn a duty Sinthair has carried out religiously ever since

Equipment:
Hadrilkar
A thick bearskin cloak
A full set of barbed Druchii plate armour
Mail skirt
A Draich: a two handed great sword normally used by the Executioners of Khain

Specialisation/Fighting Style: against the rank and file of the enemy Forces Sinthair tends to end them in single precise strikes usually a decapitation or eviscerating strike, when he finds a worthy foe he draws it out toying with them and granting them death by a thousand cuts, he favors a solid defence and a strong offence.

@Ghouly: Glad to see your joining up! You could either do something 'Druchii' sounding or do two words together like Silas Thornblood from the darkblade series.

It could be anything: Blackblade, Coldsword, Iceheart whatever (forgive my lack of imagination, writing this quickly in work).

@Mal: Hey Mal, I get Longsword in 'fantasy' terms tends to mean a longish one-handed sword, where as I am using it in the historical sense e.g. a long blade that for the most part is two handed but light enough that one handed techniques are part of the swordsmanship, for the sake of clarity would it be better for me to change the name to 'Bastard Sword'?

@Ghouly; I have sent you a PM with a list of potential names, and a suggestion for a moniker in place of a surname! If you don't think they fit, just shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help further :)

@Get; Yes, please, if you would! That would make it easier for me just to keep track of what everyone has and the differences between them
