Hey hey,
It's been a while since I've actually made a thread, largely down to work and family commitments. It's nice that I'm starting to get some time to get back into things again. I might not have been overly vocal the last few months but I've been keeping up to date with various plogs and checking out the forum every day.
I've recently been trying to finish off a few projects that I've had lying around on my desk and it's come down to basing. Ordinarily I consider myself to be quite good at it, however I've been a little stumped as of late because I've been wanting to create a section of long grass. Tufts are great for creating small patches, but this time I'm wanting to go all out on a sloping base of knee high Rohan-esque grass.
Something like this...
Pretty huh?
Well the fundamental problem is that there is very little on the market to create this kind of effect. I've been having a look through some architectural model material suppliers and eventually I found this company based in Sheffield, UK.
JG Miniatures
They produce something called a terrain mat which is literally a mat with a certain terrain type on. They have several types of mat but the two I am looking at are:
Long Grass Mat 12"x30"
Rough Pasture Mat 12"x30"
I'm guessing like me, they're a relatively new thing to the community but I was just wondering whether or not anyone has ever used or had experience of them? I was also wondering what scale they're likely to be? Any help our advice prior to purchasing one would be hugely appreciated!
Cheers,
