What follows is a blog, detailing my journey into undeath. This project is aiming to create an undead army useable in Warhammer Fantasy and Warlords of Erewhon. I will be doing what I always do, hobbying on a budget and trying to convert and use what I have, search for bargains and beg for freebies from passers by instead of purchasing everything new. No doubt some new purchases will occur at some point but these will be treats to myself for hitting certain milestones.
The theme of the army is that of a bishop, whose diocese has been ravaged by plague and war. He begs for aid but Imperial forces are unable to assist. The beasts of the night, ravaging marauders and chaos tainted diseases destroy his congregation before his powerless eyes and his prayers to Sigmar and all other gods of men are left unanswered.
Beset on all sides, he seeks sanctuary in the crypt below the cathedral. And in this place, by candlelight, he sees dusty tombs, strange tombs and large caches of weapons. A single book in particular catches his eye, and despite the sound of the hordes banging upon the door outside, he dares to read aloud from it. His mind is filled with strange languages and an unknown power courses through him. The tombs around him crack open and legions of skeletons begin clambering out and arming themselves for war. Above him, the sound of banging has stopped as the recently buried parishioners have emerged and begun tearing the assailants apart, limb from limb.
The bishop and the undead host then disappear from imperial records. However wanderers still tell tales of the Cursed Covenant and The Black Bishop who appear to battle against the hordes of chaos, or the empire that abandoned them and disappear as quickly as they came.
