RE: The Order Of The Black Rose

Thanks for fixing, Bishop and Wolf Fang. Now we got all the pictures twice though xD.

Anyway, to comment on the army:
A very nice skin tone on the ghouls, the purple makes them look half dead, half alive, just as if they got really really cold in a way. The green infection wounds look really nice, too. I'd add some gore to them though, that would make them look more dynamic and contrast nice with the existing colours.

One suggestion for your future work. Add the structure to the base BEFORE priming the model, then paint the base first so you won't ruin your paintjob when you base the model. I know I don't do that every time myself. but at least I put the sand on before priming, so that I don't have to prime the sand separately.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers,

Dogmar

I like these a lot, they remind me of Golum :)

I'm not sure if it's the photos or not but the looks very flat in color, the tone is very nice but maybe you could put a wash over it/highlight to make their flesh "pop" a little more?
Beside that they are beauties, especially the eyes, the yellow you used is fantastic!

Good work :)

RE: The Order Of The Black Rose

Firstly I want to thank wolfie and bishop for fixing up the pictures for me I really appreciated.

And thank you D and F for positive feed back.
I’ve tried the gore on the weapons in the beginning of the project but the turn out looked cheep as I didn’t manage to the colours right, but ill try logans recipe for the next project.

The skin is flat I thought id make them look more dead by doing so, but ill try on a test ghoul when I start the next wave.

If you want a quick and easy way to do them in future then try this:
Base coat black, then 3 to 4 layers skull white but leaving the edges ( for a more dramatic effect make each layer smaller then the next), then here is the best bit use watered down paint (in my case I used sunburst yellow) and apply one tiny drop in the middle, if the paint is watery enough it will run to the crevasses.
Because the watered down paint was transparent the white will show and it will give you a nice glowing effect.

Wow that's really quite ingenious!

I'm not really that technical of a painter but I'll give it my best shot with my vampires!

Thanks for the tip and again, nice work on the ghoulies!

I like the way the wall is coming along.Your dire wolves make me want to get some, they have a nice realistic look to them.
The way you painted the ghouls is interesting,I like the skin.. I would have used a different paint scheme for the loinclothes...it seems odd the way it matches the back bones.Though I my be missing something, since all my ghouls are Mantic.
Keep up the good work!

I really like the skin of your Ghouls. The grey-purple color scheme makes them look almost tribal, like some cannibalistic natives that just wandered out of the jungle in a far-off corner of the world. Or at least, that's the impression I'm getting. Kudos for trying something different, and executing it really well!

I also second the previous comments on the wall & wolves. Can't wait to see that piece of terrain painted!

I never thought of it as loincloths before now, at first glance I thought they where some kind of fur, and the back bones I think are actually hair sort of a Mohawk, but in anycase thats why they are matching ill think about the loincloths part some more.

I’m happy that you both like the dire wolfs so far as well as the wall, I’m still busy with the dire wolfs as they need some highlighting, glowing eyes, claws, but I hope they will turn out awesome when they are finally done.

RE: The Order Of The Black Rose Drawing update 19-02-2011

Thanks for the feed back V.
I do agree with you on the rider, the first drawing I made was perfect as far as the rider and the horse, :O unfortunately I left it lying around and my daughter decided to color it with her crayons she’s almost two now, not wanting to discourage her creativity I cheered her on as she squiggled along at least she got happy.xD

I’m going to make alterations to the rider as it just looks odd, the wolves are now shaded which I think turned out ok considering it’s the first time I used different graphite pencils.

Thanks again for your help V.

I hope that you guys like it so far.

Thanks for the vote of confidence cuzz.
And to both I’m glad you like the wolf’s, I know the rider is small which I agree with I’m still thinking on which way to go, do I enlarge or must I alternate it completely?

Anyways thank for all the replies I really do appreciate them.

Finally the wolfs are done with only a few adjustments to make such as playing with the matt and gloss finishes, I don’t consider my self to be a good painter but man am I happy how they turned out.

Here are some group pictures:

An infantry man that died from an arrow many years ago tried to get some rust effect on armor and sword:
