The man stood back, managing to keep himself calm though in truth the creatures before him terrified him. He had long been in the employ of Mistress Lesa, having a natural knack for ferreting our information that rivalled spymasters. Still he had not been happy with escorting the so-called Council members to the Lahmians abodes, fearing that somehow the unnatural ladies would find out who lead them here, and exact their revenge at a later date. Still for all his cowardice he was loyal to the Mistress.

The group we now stood in one of the upper levels of the inner walls. The room had not been used in a long time, and as with most of the old structures in Nuln, there were hidden passageways and tunnels everywhere for those who knew to look.

“There,” he pointed, singling out a large mansion with its own graveyard (OOC: yes the one out of the Carstein Trilogy), “that is one of their main haunts. It seems easily accessible as the ladies come and go with ease……..however one of the Mistress’s servants who has the eye for it saw strange wardings on the place.” He shifted his position to another point, looking directly into the poorer quarter.

“There,” he pointed again, this time to a ramshackle building, with what seemed to be guards at the door, “one of the busiest brothels in the city. It caters for the underbelly, so there are many unscrupulous folk in there. As you can see from here, it is quite heavily guarded as the young ladies in there are in quite high demand, so you will have to be careful not to create too much of a scene or all hell will break loose.”

“Finally, there is another place in the noble quarter, however it is almost a palace in itself. One Nuln’s noble families used to own it, until the heir wed one of the undying ladies, It was not long before she moved her “sisters” in and they now rule that household. It is a small group but they have immense influence in those circles.” Having delivered his information the man edged towards the door,

“Now Milords, if you have no more use of me I will be off…….”

Vekarin turned his gaze from the shaking man to the remainder of his band.
"We will need to strike quickly and attack each of the Lahmian safe-houses simultaneously. Otherwise, the cowards would have a chance to alert their sisters in their other holds and escape before we can descend upon them. I will lead the attack on the manor-house, do any others wish to strike the other locations?"

Geralt of Rivia thought for a moment. The breath of fresh air away from Sweeney Todd's shadow was refreshing indeed. He had not been put on any kind of leash physical or metaphorical and was allowed to decide as he thought best, not that he'd have it any other way.

"The brothel it will be for me and Toby. It should not be difficult for me to pass off as one of its clientele, and him as some kind of serving boy."

OOC: I take it that we are observing these places from some kind of high vantage point?

‘’I do not care were I strike, Vehki-Rhan’’ Vrakian said. He had followed the group to the main meeting hall in the mansion, keeping quiet and reserved to himself, and only following later.

‘’I posses aerial capacities if you wish to use them’’ he added.

"With you, honrable Blood Dragon." Rick said, teasing the string on the Moonbow. His armor twisted as he gestured for the Necromantic to come forward, and bring the small force of 14 disquised zombies with him.

Saul gazed out across the city to the points of interest indicated by the lahmian's informant, with a look of disappointment on his face.. more at the company that he'd had to endure than the actual targets. He looked sideways at Trinity to see if she showed any preference.. she only shrugged. Not helpful.

"We'll take on the 'posh' sector.. causing havoc in expensive places is what I do best"

''Will you give a signal to strike?'' Vrakian asked Saul. The vampire was probably the closest thing to a friend he had in centuries, and the strigoi felt it was best to try to work with him. ''We should probably strike at the same time, to cause maximum confusion and limit their ability to react properly.''

"A signal to strike?.. Umm.." Saul glanced at Trinity, who nodded in encouragement, he turned back to face Vrakian.. "That's a good idea.. why didn't I think of that?"

"Because you're a tactical disaster?" Trinity's amused voice cut across Saul's despondent question. He merely raised an eyebrow at her interruption so she continued.. "I suggest that we attack from different directions, drive them towards each other by cutting off their methods of escape.. though I doubt that the three of us would be able to cover a building of that size without someone slipping through the net."

"Well, I am, as you might say, quite adapt at slipping through the net." To emphazize his point, Rick let his control vanish. The Shadow Armor switched instantly, rendering him invisible. His voice rang out from nowhere.
"If I am needed to ah.. sneak in, I shall be glad to make due." He reappeared, then summoned a shard to his hand. It shaped into a ring, inserting it onto his finger. He felt the strain on him, but fought against it. His next question was directed at Vekarin.
"When do we attack, Lord Banespike?"

Most of the motley gathering, Geralt himself included, started in surprise when Toby suddenly stepped forward and began to speak. He had remained silent all along and thus most of the Council had come to regard him as a fixture in the background, making his talking a shock akin to being greeted by a painting on the wall.

"Gents, lady, Mr. Todd would like me to inform you that he has relevant assets that might prove useful. Lurking in the sewers are a group of ghouls belonging to him, numbering slightly over a hundred. He suggests using these in the actual attack as well as using them to cut off escape routes."

"I'll do with my ah.... men, Lord Banespike." Rick said. "As for the ghouls, they would be most useful in the main base, I presume?"

Saul turned his back and walked away from the convened vampires to gaze back out across the city, he was beginning to regret cutting short his hunting trip earlier.. if he hadn't felt the need to introduce Vrakian to the council then he'd still be out there somewhere wrecking havoc across the seedier districts of Nuln and having a good time. Sometimes being undead sucks.

There was something else as well that was bothering him though, something that the Lahmian had said about being betrayed by someone they trusted explicitly.. by 'they' he assumed she meant 'I', and how it ended in the death of some she cared about. It dawned on him that perhaps the way he had spoken to her was a little out of order.. quite a lot out of order actually, and as much as it galled him, he was going to have to apologise to a Lahmian. Sometimes being undead really sucks.

Behind him, Trinity walked softly up to stand beside him.. she startled him a little, he was so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn't heard her approach. She glanced up at his face, scrutinising his expression; Saul tried to flash a smile but found he couldn't. She frowned and was silent for a moment; before speaking quietly, her voice barely more than a whisper.

"Something's bothering you.. what's wrong?" Her tone was concerned, and a little impatient.

"Nothing's 'wrong'.. it's just imbalanced." He managed a weak grin, it didn't reach his eyes. Trinity's frown deepened for a second before her features smoothed out, devoid of emotion.

"Is it that Lahmian bitch? Has she upset you?" It was hard for Saul to tell whether Trinity's voice was full of anger or grudging jealousy; so he decided it was both. He chuckled hollowly.

"You mean apart from threatening to burn my tongue out?.. No. And you should show her a little more respect. We both should." His tone started joking but turned more serious at the end.

"Why? That bitch was goi-" Trinity's angry tones were cut off by Saul mid-protest. Definitely angry.

"Because She has lost more than you can imagine.. more than I can imagine. And I would guess that her head is a pretty screwed up place to be right now.. the guilt, the grief, the hate, the regret, the loss, the betrayal, the hollowness, the denial, the desire for revenge.. trust me Trinity, going through what she's been through destroys people."

A small part of his conciousness briefly contemplated what it would be like to lose Trinity the way that the Lahmian had lost her loved one. Saul shivered as the chilling though passed through him, No. He would never allow that to happen. He could not afford to lose the one redeeming factor in his life. Thankfully, Trinity was locked in silent contemplation of her own so she didn't notice his momentary nightmare.

"Have you ever lost anyone?.. like that I mean." Trinity's quiet, careful voice broke the silence between them.

"No." Saul's response was hard and immediate, "And I don't intend to either. But I do know some of what she's going through though.." He hesitated for a moment, not sure whether he wanted to divulge one of his more shameful memories but he might as well, she'd have to know eventually.. "I have been the person that destroys someone in that way along time ago, I did something unforgivable and lost a brother and a sister because of it."

"I don't understand." Trinity's tone was shocked and Saul thought he heard a hint of fear mingled in with the shock.

"Now isn't the time or the place to recount such a shameful tale but one day I will tell you, and you will understand and when you do, you will think less of me." Saul's voice was cold and distant, his tone filled with shame and regret. He turned away from Trinity to face the other vampires again, too afraid to look her in the eyes. Saul want nothing more than to get on with things, something to take his mind of painful memories.. and killing was the best way to do that.

"Might I suggest that we hurry up a bit. This is meant to be a diversionary attack and not a meticulous assault. Let's just get on with it."

"I agree. Khairete.*" Rick intoned. "I will be off."
With that, he bounded away, landing nearer to the graveyard. The Moon Sword formed in his grasp, plunging into Rick's scabbard. With incredible speed, appearing as a blur of color, he took off. Behind him, the Shadow was covered in a dark cloud and carried after Rick, his master. At the graveyard, the Fire appeared in a flash of burning light, grasping a blade imbued with his fiery spirit. Two elements, and Ra'lak would be here soon.

The Sword of Rhuin burnt off stone like ice, carving a doorway. The Fire stepped in.
"NO!" Rick yelled, as runes and wards the the wizard back, slowly infecting scars criss-crossing his form. A guard stepped through the gaping hole, only to be met by the crystal-like blade of the Moon Sword, its magic- or anti magic- enchantment defeating the wards. The guards leg twisted weakly as Rick bared his fangs and sucked out the lifeblood from the now empty husk.

Another guard came through, but was caught by a shadow. The leech-like creature grabbed onto the guard's body, allowing Rick to jump back and ready the Moon Bow. The Fire weakly grasped at his lifeblood pouring out of the open wound, slowly healing from the Shadow sending bouts of magical energy at him.

Then the wards abated, and the employed humans streamed out unhindered. Leading them was a knight, brandishing a magic sword covered in runes, of Dwarven origin. Rick charged as the Shadow let out a burst of words, "lygophil!" As a heavy mist obscured the fierce fighting.

"Very well. Saul and I will assault the main building. Geralt will attack the brothel and Rick will take the Graveyard with his soldiers." Vekarin described, "I believe that our attack will be outnumbered on all fronts, and the Ghouls will be needed in all locations. As such, sixty will attack the mansion with Saul and I while twenty will accompany both the Graveyard attack and the assault on the Brothel. I recommend that we keep them concealed until the time is right."

Rick started as the a sudden swarm of Dhar streamed from the window in his Witchsight, attempting to raise zombies to overwhelm the group of seventeen. The Shadow rushed to complete the crown of Tairdon as Rick summoned the power of Kinos the Beast, causing the knight's mount to stop. The Fire rushed to throw a Fireball, blasting the horse to ash, but then was caught by a returning Wind of Death, blasting The Pyromancer off his feet and slowly sucking the life out of him.

Rick flipped out another arrow, but this one was made of crystal and magic. The Dhar was drawn towards it and through it, fueling its hunger. It blasted towards the Lahmian Witch, slowly robbing her of others life blood. Rick made a gesture at the Shadow. Black ink like substance sprouted from his shoulders, a form of Steed of Shadows, turning into wings and flying through the window. Another Unseen Lurker spell bathed him in mists. Sabatoge.

Saul nodded grimly. Even the prospect of the hunt was doing little to make him feel better and as if things couldn't get any worse, he'd be accompanied by Lord Banespike himself. Bloody Marvellous. He had no doubt that the Blood Dragon's superior combat abilities would be more than useful, but he couldn't shake the feeling that Lord Banespike wasn't anything other than an uncontrollable, walking slaughterhouse.

"Then we have a plan.."

"Alright. If that is the plan, then I shall take my leave." Geralt turned to leave. He stopped and blinked at the sight of Toby at least twenty paces away, merrily skipping his way unnoticed by the rest into the distance. If the little one was that good at slipping away then perhaps this little diversion might go smoother than he thought.

Adolphus knew he was passing close to the sewers from the stench wafting through the grates. The smell was lush, rich in its complexity and with every passing step it grew closer to overpowering. Any distraction to take his mind off the odor would be a small blessing, and one cam quickly.

"Meat pies! Meat pies! Fresh meat pies!" The watchman turned his lantern towards the sound, illuminating a pale lad with a billboard calling out in a singsong manner as he skipped barefoot through the streets. Adolphus squinted with surprise at this strange sight. The sun had long since set, and a boy like him should be in bed at this hour.

Not noticing that the sewer grates were ajar, he turned to speak to the strange lad as he passed. It would be his doom.

"Hey y-" Adolphus never finished the sentence for he was seized by a pair of strong hands that ended in long, shovel-like claws. The lantern the night watchman was holding fell to the floor and shattered as he struggled. Toby turned with supernatural speed and stabbed deep into the man's throat with one of his knives, turning what would have been a cry of alarm into a loud gurgle. For a brief moment the human flailed about like a beached fish before slowly succumbing to Morr's embrace.

Eyes gleaming in the darkness, more ghouls shuffled forth to seize their prey, allowing Toby the time to pull out his dagger before they dragged him into the shadows to feast. Throughout the long night a similar act was replayed several times, paving the way for Todd's 'army' to seize the night.

Ignoring Trinity's worried expression, Saul turned to face Vrakian with a weak grin on his face..

"You could just make it up as you go along, if you want.. life's more fun without a plan anyway. Or.. you could accompany Me and Trinity, and save us from a night alone in the company of," Saul jerked his head in the direction of Vekarin, "eternally-grumpy."

''Maybe, that sounds like a good idea, but I'm concered we would be putting too much weight into one attack, maybe I could be more useful at the Brothel or Graveyard?'' Vrakian suggested.

Saul shrugged.. he'd had enough of debating and now wanted to get on with things.

"That is a valid concern but it would be more decisive to deliver a crippling blow to one particular target and prevent them from alerting the others. By crushing one cell of Lahmians entirely we will send a dire warning to those who survive elsewhere.."

"Indeed, Lord Vrakian, you will attend Geralt in assaulting the Brothel." Vekarin told the Vampire. He looked about at his assembled attack force again.
"Some of us have already begun their infiltration. You all have tasks, so I suggest you carry them out. Get into position, and I will signal the attack." With that, the massive Blood Dragon swept down the stairs.

Saul raised an eyebrow at Banespike's ill-mannered behavior; grinning he turned to Trinity, who's facial expression almost mirrored his own.

"Shall we?" He offered a hand to Trinity and gestured with the other to the stairs down which the Blood Dragon had departed. Trinity nodded and accepted the hand with a smile, together they walked over to the stairs before Saul turned his head back to look around at those still left in the room, he nodded in respect to Vrakian..

"Good Luck."

Saul shifted his attention back to Trinity and the stairs, with a look of expectant enjoyment on his face, and departed the room to follow Lord Banespike.

Striding quickly across the narrow street that separated the attacker's vantage point from the mansion's entrance, Vekarin waited for a moment by the entrance to the estate. A tall wall of stone encircled the house's meager grounds, which were entered by an ornate wrought-iron gate whose bars twisted and cavorted into the images of various snakes and serpents writhing about each other, as if warning a would-be trespasser of the danger within. Vekarin stood by the wall, giving the remainder of the force time to get into position as Trinity and Saul hurried across the street after him. Satisfied that he had given the other Council members sufficient time, Vekarin knelt down to a small drainage grate that lay embedded in the roadside, leading to the city's sewers. Clasping his massive, gauntleted hands around the bars, he easily wrenched the drain free of its place in the cobbles, freeing the passage for dozens of Ghouls that waited below to scramble up onto the street like the nest of some massive insect. Turning, Vekarin produced a small pouch from his cloak, the end of which lit on fire at a snap of his fingers. Calmly, he placed the flaming pouch on the large lock that barred the gates and stepped back. A moment later, a explosion ripped through the lock, leaving rent in the iron of the gate the size of a man's torso.
The boom echoed about the neighborhood with a volume that clearly denoted it as some sort of signal.
Unsheathing his blade and shield, Vekarin shouted to his party, "The gate is open, let us attack!" before throwing the gates open and running headlong into the enclosure.
