Katie ran. She had been running for a while now, but she was not out of breath yet. Her newfound speed and stamina amazed her. Stopping, Katie concentrated on the magical signature, pinpointing its location. It wasnt far now. The past few times she had done this she had felt a strange presence, but it didnt matter. She would find this Rask and kill him, for what he had done to Lesa. Finding the location, Katie stood and ran on, she would be there soon.

Another explosion wracked the chamber. As the smoke slowly cleared, a high-pitched, squeaking laughter filled the cavern. Rask strode out of the smoke, dragging a half-conscious Worsint behind him, still laughing all the way. The vampire dumped the dazed engineer on the ground, and looked back at the rubble the way they had come. Finally, his laughter subsided and he addressed Worsint.
“Well done-done. That was perfect.”
The other skaven only nodded, his eyes still crossing and uncrossing as he tried to focus. The bombs had worked well, perhaps too well. The assault on the man-things had been carried out, and the town was little more than rubble with none of the undead rats having to even enter the town. Ok, so the bombs had resulted in a cave-in of the nearby tunnels, but so what? The town was destroyed and nothing important had been damaged in the process.
Tarak approached the pair silently, stepping lightly over the rubble despite his heavy armour. He paused to bow to Rask for a moment before speaking.
“My Lord, I must warn you again. Someone is coming who means to try and kill-kill you.”
Rask only laughed again, shaking his head.
“You say-say that this enemy is only a new-born. I think I can deal with this problem myself.”
“This foe could be dangerous despite that.”
“I think not-not.”
Sighing Tarak turned away.
“Well-well, I warned you.”

A huge tremor shook the ground, and Katie almost fell though its force. As the earth continued to shake, a huge ploom of smoke and debris rose from the ground not far from her location. She watched huge chunks of earth go soaring up, and come raining back down again, only the smaller ones coming close to reaching her.
By Nagash, what was that. she though, as the last of the pieces of dirt came raining down. After the initial silence following the blast, scream filled the air. Running to the crest of the hill in front of her, Katie could see the scene of destruction below her. At the center of the town there was a hole in the ground, which was expelling huge amounts of smoke. The rest of the town was in ruins, with buildings having collapsed into the ground, and there was bodies everywhere. The stench of death filled the air. Lovely.

Throwing her magical senses wide, Katie could sense the rat, almost underneath her. Running towards a newly formed hole in the ground, Katie silently dropped down, in front of a dead rat-man. Quick as a flash, she pulled a dagger from its sheath and drove it into the beast's skull, making a satisfying crack. Time for the hunt to begin, and for the first time, Katie was the hunter.

Rask stood silently in a newly formed cavern below the now ruined town. He was alone, without any guards. The vampire lord was relatively confident that no one would be able to kill him, but if they did he would probably deserve to die. The day he began relying on guards would be the day he knew his days were truly numbered.
Outside, thousands of skaven undead were massing. All the vampires had sensed the death of one of their minions, and had gathered the army. Only a single zombie had been destroyed, but in the paranoid world of skaven, anything out of the normal could mean a cut throat any moment.
After a moment Sliss, leading a group of rat wolves, departed, heading towards the last location of the zombie.

Katie crept slowly towards the source of the magical trace. She could feel zombies being massed around her, but she didnt care. When she took down Rask, the whole army should crumble around him. Her mind swam with how the Mistress would reward her for killing her torturer. Katie was brought back to reality with a thud as the tunnel was filled with the sound of pattering feet. Thrusting herself into a small crevasse next to the path. Pulling the shadows around her, Katie stood still. She could not fell any magical power from the approaching rat-man. Or so little it did not matter. She could trust her spell to keep her hidden. Two, four, six, wolves past her at speed, followed by a ratman, who she could tell was a vampire. But not her target.

Once they had passed, Katie began to creep in the direction they had come from. Soon she could almost feel the ratman's magic essence. Walking into a large chamber, Katie could see Rask, just standing there, seemingly deep in though, or preparing a spell. Silently sliding a dagger from its hidden spot, Katie crept behind the horrible monster, ready to drive the three inch long blade through its heart.

Katie crept slowly forward, approaching the unmoving Rask cautiously. Quietly she lifted the dagger, brought it as far back as she could, then brought it down with all the strength she could muster. Even as she did it she was grinning, taking pleasure in the vermin’s death even before it died. But the pleasure never came.
With a dull thud the dagger struck the haft of an enormous scythe, lodging in the wood for a moment. Tarak stepped out from his hiding place, tearing his scythe away, and with it breaking Katie’s grip on her knife. With a clatter the knife flew through the air to land on the ground beside Rask.
Slowly, Rask stood and turned to face his would-be killer. He grinned.
“Well-well, what is this? Has Lesa decided to send one of her own to exact revenge?”
As he spoke Lesa’s name Rask layered it with all the scorn he could muster, shocking Katie with the obvious hatred he had for her Mistress.
Rask shook his head.
”What a fool-fool. I was content to leave her and her idiotic council alone, but she is apparently actively trying to provoke me into becoming her enemy.”
He walked slowly towards Katie, who backed away, nervously looking for any weapon she could use. There was nothing, but sheathed in Rasks’ belt was a sword. Seeing perhaps her only chance, Katie lunged forward, trying to grab the weapon and draw it.
But Rask was too fast. His hand closed around her wrist, stopping her arm only a few inches from the weapon. Grinning, he looked up into her face.
“I’m afraid that-that this weapon is a little too much for you to handle. But if you want to try…”
Rask took her hand and pressed it to the hilt. For a moment nothing happened, then green lightning burst out of the weapon, running up Katie’s arm and into her body. She was sent flying, colliding with the wall before crumpling to the ground.
With a groan she tried to lift herself to her feet, reaching down to try and grab one of the other daggers she had secreted around her person. She looked up to see Rask approaching, and in desperation she hurled the knife at him. The vampire easily sidestepped, watching with amusement as the weapon hurtled past. Turning to Tarak he grinned.
“She is-is persistent, I’ll give her that.”
Still grinning, he stepped forward and kicked her in the jaw. Hard. And for Katie, everything went black.

Katie slowly opened her eyes, the world around her a fuzzy blur. She rubbed her eyes, aware of a throbbing pain in her jaw, before her memory came back to her in a rush of emotions and pain. As her eye's cleared, she saw that she was suspended in a cage above the damp ground. Looking down, she realized with a start that she was naked. Instinctively moving her hands to protect what was left of her modesty, she moved backwards, causing the cage to wobble, and her to tumble over. Curling herself into a ball, Katie focused on one, hate-filled word. Rask.

A noise sounded from behind her and she snapped open her eyes, to she a ratman shaking, in what looked like laughter. She her rage grew even further Katie spied a group of keys dangling from the beast's neck. Quickly asserting that is was beyond arms reach, Katie crawled backwards away from it, and whimpered. The thing chuckled again and took a step forwards. Quick as a flash, Katie lunged forwards and let out a primal roar as she literally tore out the creatures throat, bringing the chain of keys with it. Stabbing the right key into the lock, Katie slipped nimbly out of the cage, picked up a rock which she then threw into the body of another ratman that had come to investigate, before running off, heading up towards the surface. She no longer cared she was naked, she had to find Lesa.
