Ok, Boris Johnson wants to get rid of the people who are making parliament look untidy, peaceful demonstrators who want a few wrong things putting right, like the right to be where they have a right to be. The irony of protesting a law forbidding protests is a bitter one, it should not be necessary because governments should listen to its people, especially when many of them agree on the same things.

"Parliament Square is a world heritage site and top tourist attraction that is visited by thousands of people and broadcast around the world each day."

Tourism should not be allowed to get in the way of peoples' right to say what they like to their government, especially if they don't feel they can be fully understood by the usual methods of communication.

And there's the real reason why the protesters are being moved along. Can't have embarrassing hippy types making England look like it has problems, after all, good lord no. Sigh.

I personally feel that people should be allowed to protest, providing they are not harming others of course. I feel there is a right way to protest (such as peaceful ones, which the one in the parliament square seems to be), and ones which are deeply insulting and out of order (such as protesting against war at the funeral of a soldier).

Just because the protesters may look “untidy” is not a valid reason to move them on in my opinion.

Yeah they should definitely have the freedom to protest, if they think there is a problem, they should have the right to say so. Maybe the govt doesn't want EDL protests, but that's no excuse to ban other protests as well, that's outright fascist, next they'll officially ban freedom of press (because right now most of it is owned by one guy).

Unfortunately, British government hates admitting there are problems in this country, well, the party IN government won't admit it, but Labour will be complaining about the current govt's mistakes for the next 5 years even though some of them will have been caused by past mistakes by labour.

The whole tourism thing is just an excuse for them to stop protest and hence silence the average person because then they can pretend they're a perfect govt. Sad really.
