VC - 40K - Army List

[Disciple of Nagash]

Well we are going to have some heavy weapons on the heavy skimmers (of which we can have some varients), and on the dreadnought (need to think of a better name).

I think we could have some thrall units, kinda like Blood Knights of 40K. I can see these guys being heavily armed, perhaps with powerful sonic weapon. Once of them could be upgraded to be holding a very poweful heavy weapon?

In regards to another unit - how about somekind of mindless experiments. Humans that were subject to nanobot experiments that went wrong?


In regards to Cythor Fiends - I really don't see them using heavy weaponry. Assault type weapons yes, static things like missile lauchers (well their sonic variation), no.

Chiros with dual pistols of some kind would be awesome. There arent enuff people with dual pistols in 40k.

Well that would not really be a unit, but more like weapon options for a unit. Certainly that can be discussed when we look at designing the units.

Now we really seem to be struggling with unit ideas, so lets perhaps look at the list and maybe draw some inspiration from fantasy:

Chiro Thralls
I think we really need at least one more entry in here, if not two. I would suggest:
Experiments - humans that are not vampires, but have been experiment on to merge human / cythor fiend / technology with nano bots.
Juggernaughts - Thralls that have been surgically altered to carry sheild generators. Basically will be very heavily armoured but slow.

Troops
Zombies
Young Cythors whose wings have not fully developed AKA ghouls
Enhanced Humans - Humans who are not chiro, but have a better level of nano enhancement than zombies AKA skellies. I would imagine they are more versatile, more weapon options etc.
We really need some more choices for the troops?

Fast Attack
Cythor Fiends
Cythor Scout party
Chiro Stealth - i would imagine this to be a high generation chiro, more like an assassin than a unit.

Heavy
Cythor Monster
Heavy Skimmers with different variations, one of them being an uber cannon.
Chiro Agile Dreadnought.


Now does anyone have any more ideas?

hmm. young cythor would have to go without the jump pack thing i think; otherwise were in danger of them becoming a bit OP.

other than that i like it; im imagining some kinda large shoulder mounted weapon on the cythor monster, and maybe a handler "riding" it or something? i just had the image of ancient war elephants come with the mahouts to mind you see :)

I've got an Image of a kind of 'attack dog' beat used by the Cythor. Another less advanced inhabitant of the planet that they useto harry the enemy. Don't know wheather that would be troops or fast attack though. thoughts?

Yeah the young Cythor's won't have fully grown wings yet, but are eager to prove themselves in battle. So no jump packs.

We could use the dog things for another troop choice maybe, as we seem a bit short in that area?

Sounds good. We'l have to be careful not to make them to speedy then. Also we should limit their avaliability, as we don't want them to be the main troops choice people use.

I agree - well if we put them in the list, but just make a note for them to be limited etc when we design the rules.

Any more ideas for Chiro units?

Hmm I really like the idea of the army having the beast rule it would set for a good interesting game play. it sounds like it could be really fun to play. The only problem I see though is are the core units going to be squishy and low coast like tryanids and imperial guard or heavy tough high point units like necrons, marines est. I was thinking more along the lines of a hard hitting squishy army light armor and hits really hard but can't take too much punishment.

also I really like the idea of the soulder mounted cythor monster gun although it does kinda remind me of this lol.

That's the idea with the Cythor units. The fluff behind them is they hit hard but lack defensive.

The Chiro's will be more all round, and quite potent, but they will vary on their generation.

Those sound good, how about some kind of walker with loads of legs a spider like contraption smaller then a defiler but still big...chiro built, maybe something a chiro could be mounted on.

The Chrio agile dreadnought could also fit into elite (chaos deadnoughts are in elite).

Edit: how about humans that serve chiro's willingly, for the chance to become 'upgraded'

we could have human troops as a standard troops choice, and the "enhanced" humans being a 0-1 upgrade to such a unit or something?

i dont particularly think we need more choices for seperate units personally...though the way they do it in gw codices is to have different loadouts having seperate entries i guess...so we'd have a cc and a ranged instance of say, young cythor under the troops category; but i dont think we really need to do it that way. just have a basic cost with "all member of the squad must be equipped the same" next to basic weapon options, then have special weapon upgrades such as power weapons or whatever following that.

I think there needs to be some kind of heavy weapons team in support,

I like the idea of massive zombies hauling massive cannon shaped objects around, these would be multiwound, and tough but in relativly small units.

Transports - I see something like a Venom (or Land speeder storm) fitting in

Heavy weapon teams? - not in the IG sense. Something like Devastators/Havocs would prob be fine.

Dogs/Wolves - if you decide to go down this route, they'd probably have too be fast attack due to the speed that they move in 40k.

Perhaps I might have missed out, but are we attempting to incorporate the Bloodlines for WHFB VC into this? Doesn't have to be a strict copypasta, it can just be used to for several niche/specialist units. So a Blood Dragon equivalent would be an elite assault unit, while Necrarches could form a unit of 'Nanomancers', something like the IG Psyker Battle Squad, etc.
