Entry Thread - Turning the World to Darkness: Die by the Sword

Real life stealing all my hobby time! No diorama, I'm afraid, but I do have an old school vampire I could give a big-@$$ sword. Deadline for now is August 22nd, right?

    A brief History of Wargames

As mentioned, I downloaded some free rules. It's a game called Ravenfeast, I haven't tried it yet but it should be fairly simple and has rules for shield wall. I'll happily send you the rules, or you can go to Ravenfeast.com and have a look around. If you do try them out, feel free to share any...

    A brief History of Wargames

I've been eyeing those victrix models for some time! I downloaded some free rules via Little Wars TV, to fight skirmishes with vikings. And I can use them for warbands in some fantasy skirmish games as well, so it might be my gateway into historicals.😁 Ash Barker has videos of the Game of...

    A brief History of Wargames

It's a good point, and I have looked at Chain of Command and others, for quick skirmishes like that. But with limited hobby time and cash, I have gravitated towards fantasy because I can have both skirmishes and big battles with the same models. I started with fantasy in my teens and just stayed...

    A brief History of Wargames

For myself, I reckon it has something to do with the freedom of fantasy and/or imaginary settings. World- and story-building i freeform. In a historical setting I'd have a harder time freeing myself from how history unfolded, who fought who, when and who won?

    A brief History of Wargames

I didn't read through all the posters, but it seems like you put a lot of work into it! A lot of people don't know about the history behind wargaming, and simply see it as "toy soldiers". Though it seems that more people are doing their best to spread knowledge of the history, and modern use, of...

Entry Thread - Turning the World to Darkness: Die by the Sword

I'm coming up with ideas for this, so maybe I'll have something to enter... No promises, there is a diorama-type thing I'm leaning towards, though it breaks all my competition rules.

Congrats on the win, Raven Torrid. Very "gothic horror"-esque, I like it. And great models, Unas the slayer! But as you say, less fitting to this particular theme.

What's going on in your life?

Sorry to hear about everyones losses. Makes my troubles seem trivial, but still, here is what is going on in my life. We're putting our house up for sale. I love living here, it is just too inconvenient logistically, with work and school. So we've used weeks and weeks on cleaning and throwing...

Sounds like a rough time, Unas the slayer. Condolences, and I hope at least your cat returns.

Phew, I think he's done! Flesh Golem Some say, that if you can get close enough without succumbing to the stench or being stabbed, you can hear a constant murmur coming from inside the helmet: "Smash. Stab. Smash. Stab. Smash..."

Totally missed the deadline! Guy is almost done, I just haven't had time to put the finishing touches on, will get it done this week.

Entry Thread - Turning the World to Darkness: IT…IS…ALIVE!

I managed to dig something useful out of the ol' box o' bits. This is where I'm headed. I didn't have any legs for this, so smushed some greenstuff over the wires I used to connect the feet to the torso. Next is some rubble on the base and then a blast of primer. I'll be back with the painted...

I started digging for bits, as with this theme at least one person has to do a classic (-ish) flesh golem, right!? Which luckily lends itself nicely to a diverse (read: messy and scattered) bitzbox. So a flesh golem it'll be, AKA a medium construct for Frostgrave.
