RE: Borgnine's Log: GG and BK WIP + Patina Tutorial
Ohh I love Boltbitz! I thought of it as well, its a lovely base for a lot of things that will be weathered. Loving all your work so far and thanks for the weathering recipe!
For your sculpted faces, they look great but if I could suggest a...
Yep I have a number of updates that I should really post up. I was working on my Ghouls a bit today because tiny little bones make me crazy after awhile. I took a break from this sort of painting because my friends and I started an online Magic: The Gathering store and have been vendoring at...
Bella is awesome looking. Its good to know that I'm not the only one who tests their paint on their thumb. xD I usually more use the finger nail though. I like to see how fast the paint dries in a light layer, especially if I'm working on blending.
I tested out Night Blue (019) from my Vallejo Game Colour collection and it matches Necron Abyss/Midnight Blue quite well. I don't know if it is only my bottle but my Night Blue is a rather thin color so it may need a few coats. If you use a black primer it won't however. If using a white primer...
If you can get your hands on the older Citadel Midnight blue it is nearly an exact match (or maybe you have some) just not the foundation consistency. You might want to check out all options that match that color on the Dakka Paint Compatibility Chart. When I get home (in a day or so) I'll check...
I happen to be a lowly disciple in the cult of white undercoat. Worship at the idol of the Spray Can or Paint pot and the nature of the Paint will be revealed to you.
Love all your work, that cairn wraith is especially awesome.
RE: RE: Questing Vamps (Pict Heavy) Updated 1-29-2013 (new pictures on pg.4)
Everything looks awesome so far! I can see that your painting sessions are fuelled by the same thing as mine although I'm more of Diet Coke person. xD
Its just plain original Simple Green. This is the one. I would also suggest using gloves with it because the pine oil or whatever strips the paint makes me scratch myself bloody.
I'm in Canada as well and I generally use nail polish remover for metals and Simple Green (you can find it at Canadian Tire among other places) for plastics. I've had some plastic models in Simple Green for over a year and nothing has happened to them. Its not the best stripper but if you ever...
RE: Bullhax's plog - Here be dead ogres! last update 15/01-2013
I am in love with that Ogre's skin color! I should also mention the whole missing flesh on the arm is awesomely done.
You will not regret buying a nice Kolinsky-Sable brush. It was like night and day for me. My favorite are my Restauro's, I use Da Vinci but a lot of people swear by Winsor Newton. Here's an article about them. It may seem like an expensive investment but it makes such an amazing difference.
I'm just sitting down to paint now so it just occurred to me. You should get yourself some matte medium. I use liquitex because you get obscene amounts for cheap as you're not painting... paintings but miniatures. Also some flow improver and paint retarder. I've found with the new line of GW...
