Wouldn't be surprised if we see something more traditional in a 6-12 months time, though using round bases and round skirmish trays. Wouldn't really require anything other than a few books and some LotR-style movement trays...miniatures could be cross-compatible, as they are now.

All the rules have been shunted into the warscrolls. Until we see those, we don't see the game. And the leaked ones are all starter box content...no surprise at all that it's simplistic. Age of Sigmar is clearly meant to be a product that GW can build on. There is potential here. The game...
  3. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

It's more like a watered-down warmachine with some 40K rules thrown in. Though again...this is the starter set we're seeing. I can only hope this is not all that's to come.

I can get behind the fluff. I actually rather like it. Very different from what we're used to. The rules...are...I just don't understand. They make sense for a starter set, but they don't withstand more rigorous play. That said, they also don't contain terrain rules. They don't contain...

Just like dark elf core was "Darkshards," "Dreadspears," and "why the hell would you ever take these guys."

Looks like Khemri has been squatted. <Sigh>. Suppose we always knew this was coming...
  7. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

Read the new warscrolls that were leaked. Verdict is that there...just isn't a game here. Theres a 4-page skeleton of a ruleset, and a bunch of unit rules that are like pages out of a D&D Monster Manual...but without CR or experience values. Unless a large piece is missing, there is presently...

LINK TO RULES Not sure if these were posted, but these popped up on my twitter feed today. From the new WD, I believe. Not sure how I feel. Could be good or bad. Depends on what actual choices we get to make in army construction, I suppose. Fixed-size units is done well in WM/H. Provided there...

    Age of sigmar

WHFB's slow decline has little to do with the popularity of mass battle games, and much more to do with how big a chunk GW expects customers to chew off at once. You don't get a playable WHFB army until you've spent like $400 and painted 60+ models. That's super onerous for a new player. An...

Saw that post a few days ago on Warseer, and I must say I'm super suspicious. These occasions are where trolls really thrive, putting together some startlingly extensive fake rumours and such.

    Age of sigmar

One of their distributors who is wrong about at least the 8th ed armybooks, which will be pulled from sale on June 26th as per the GW website. Best case scenario is that we're looking at Ravening Hordes 2.0. But who knows.
  12. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

I've got 3 1/2 weeks to get my hobby table together (just moved), finish my extensive terrorgheist/snake dragon conversion, and paint/base the whole damned thing. It's going to be tight. Was going to go all-out on the base, but instead I think I'm just going to magnetize to a half-assed model...
  13. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    2500 Swedish list (8-14)

You're getting hammered hard for that third spirit host, no? Maybe trade him for some fellbats. Black coach is also pretty garbage. I'd much rather have a couple varghulfs. Maybe some vargheists to go with. You're really magic heavy. Perhaps trading the coaches/terrorgheist for mortis engines...
  14. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    How are VCs doing?

End Times is a clusterfuck. Host of the Eternity King is head-and-shoulders above all the rest of the armies. That said, it's still possible to create a very competitive Undead Legions list, and I've seen us rank quite highly in quite a number of tournaments. HOWEVER...big caveat...few End...
  15. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

Quite honestly, the trouble is that - without the pressure of tournament deadlines - I'm awful at actually getting my models painted. Tough to have a true "hobbyist experience" when only the filth is painted :P I think I've got 8 tournaments lined up for this year already. 2 already past, 2...
  16. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Kroak'd

Yeah. Depending on how they do up the profiles, those zombie dragons could range between amazing and to downright broken. Though I'm sensing that 9th is going the way of Ravening Hordes 2.0 based on the rumours, so who the hell knows what we'll end up with. Though the ZD is the only plastic...
  17. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

There...are other types of games? But what comp pack are you trying to crack? What meta are you trying to anticipate? I don't get it...
  18. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Age of sigmar

Why? These "get-you-by lists" might well be combined lists, as per the End Times books. It's a space saver in the very least, given how many redundant options there are across the books.
  19. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    2500 Swedish Comp list

They do have less killing power, but at 3W T5 they're also much more survivable. With +1 to hit from BotB they will still output a decent amount of damage, and at a much better price tag. My issue with baby vampires is that they're super fragile and too expensive for what you get, IMHO. Yeah he...
  20. Pirate Robot Ninja of Death

    Kroak'd

It's a direct damage spell, so he can cast it out of - but not into - combat. Just do as you would against any massed shooting army and bumrush into combat. And yeah...dragons definitely have their issues. I wouldn't bring one to an uncomped environment.
