Trim the outside with your clipper, then for the space between the feet do it slowly. Don't try to cut it all at once. Cut maybe half of it, or even a third from a side, then go from the other side. Once you get the cut, you can remove smaller chunk from each side and it should reduce the breaking.

Tomb Kings horses work just fine. With my two box I made the Hexwraiths, and used TK horses to get Black Knights too. No extra work needed either, just glue them on top!

Since the unit is armed with great weapon, I'd try to ditch the shield and give them suitable weapons. No need to be scythe though, any great weapon would do. Maybe the Grave Guards GW would look nice and menacing on those guys?

The TK horsemen riders are one piece (body and legs). You can easily cut them at the waist and glue/pin a VC Skeleton torso there. The TK models are a bit larger than the newer VC ones, but that doesn't prevent them to be compatible like that. If you want to keep the rider naked, you can just...

Super glue work just fine, as does regular white glue. Like Shadespyre said, I would also recommend to pin the models on the base for extra stability.

Painted up this guy a while ago. No primer, just direct paint. Took the paint well and the bendiness didn't cause any problems so far!

Gonna need some credible source on that statement. Warhammer Forge, from what is known right now, is as good as dead. Nothing in the work or planned, models are slowly discontinued as time goes by, all in favor of more Space Marine shoulder pads. So if you have info on that, please share it :)

The better future proofing option is to use a 50x50 base. It's easy to add a tray to boost the base size if needed, but it's much harder to make it smaller ;)

I had to stop building the Abyssal and start painting it, otherwise it'll be too hard to paint. Lots of parts to paint separately too, kinda annoying :p
