This is for a small tournament. What say ye?

Necromancer (general) 150pts
lvl 2, Book of Arkhan, scroll

Necromancer 162pts
lvl 2, nightmare + barding, rod of flaming hurting (;))

VC Thrall (134pts): GW, Flayed Hauberk, wolf form

3 X 5 Dire Wolves (@ 50pts/pack)

2 X 20 Skellies, FC, LA (@ 225pts/block)

5 Black Knights, Barding, Hell Knight and Banner of the Barrows (202 pts)

I figure the mounted necro could run around and use his rod once in a while and also dance stuff from the back.

We are playing on a 4x4, so I figure, deploy the 3 DWs first up front spread across and wind up with something like this...

S = skeleton unit
W = wolves

**** LINE OF DEPLOYMENT
W__W__W

__S__S__

*****TABLE EDGE****

And then throw in the black knights/thrall where is the weakest flank.

I have though maybe the staff of damnation instead of the rod and dropping the horsey, but then what do I do with those extra 24 pts?

Thoughts, feelings, ideas, opinions, beratings?

Thanks!

PS:
Thanks Vicente von Carstein for showing me the new forum (I wondered why it seemed so dead )

Overall, a tidy little list. I personally prefer the Staff, but the rod can work well too. The main benefit of the rod is the panic tests, and there are a fair few ItP armies out there (or at least ItP heavy ones).

I would also look at taking a unit of skeletons and one of Zombies, and look to create a bunker as well, either from these or taking an additional block of 10.

I would also recomend against running around on your own with the necromancer, as there are spells that do not require line of sight as well as magic missiles, and the necro can end up taking the full d6/2d6 hits.

Another possibility to consider would be to drop a unit of wolves in favour of one of ghouls, to allow movement outside the general's zone of control, to include through woods, and the poisoned attacks.

If anything why not put your general on a horse and keep him out of the skele units which you need for CC, otherwise you need to find some points for a small zombie bunker unit.
I agree with skaramak, get some ghouls...

Yeah, I agree. I need some ghouls. I need to find it in my budget to get some. Hopefully I can trade for some or get some second hand cheap..... mmmmmm cheap models :D... oh, I mean, Warhammer models, not runway models....

Take a look on E-bay - There are quite a few going at the moment.

And I know what you were thinking - skimpy clothing, lots of pale skin showing, long poisoned claws and a serious case of the munchies

I have a few on "watch this" already. Now, to make sure it stays in budget and my wife doesn't find out, LOL ;)

So, here is the updated list I am thinking:

Necro (general): Level 2 ; Book of Arkhan; Scroll
Necro: Level 2 ; Staff of Damnation
Thrall; Great Weapon; Flayed Hauberk; Wolf Form

2 X 5 Dire Wolves
11 Ghouls
2 X 20 Skeletons: FC, LA

5 Black Knights: Barding; Banner of the Barrows

Total Roster Cost: 1248
