2500 Blitzkreig-New book

Hi all, I have been looking for a VC dedicated forum for a while now and a friend reccomended CN so... here I am.

This list is one that I have been using once in a while but know that vamps have the march within 6" it can really work.

-Vampire 'lord', lvl 3, red fury, eternal hatred, walking death, sword of might, book of arkhan, wristbands of black gold, cursed book, zombie dragon @ 730
**The lord is my über hammer; up to 13 S6 attacks per turn, with re-rolls to hit. I was thinking about a lance but I though the S6 in subsequent rounds would be good if I fluff the first round of attacks (somehow)**
-Vampire, dreadknight, walking death, staff of damnation @ 190
**This is one of the other strengths of the list IMO, the staff favors a strong offencive list but is a good investment in such a list; in the BK unit alone, 2 S7 and 4 S6 on the charge**
-Vampire, BSB, dreadknight, ghoulkin, dispel scroll, periapt @ 215
**this guy is a support character with my knight block, gives +1 CR and a few S7 attacks as well**

Not sure if the fast army approach is that useful anymore, but you are always free to try it out first. Please report back!

The Vamp Lord is a big 'all-eggs-in-a-basket' but I guess he can really put up a fight.

I think this is going to be on one of the massacre or be massacred armies, I can see some instances where you are going to roll over eveyting but I can equally see some others where your going to get slaughtered, especially if your unluck enough to lose your Lord staright off as thats a huge chunk of your army there. Still I look forward to your report.

By the way a good combo for your Lord could be:
Red Fury,
Beguile,
Avatar of Death,
Dreadlance
Cadaverous Curiass
Gem of Blood

If you charge (which you should do on the Dragon) your first four A auto hit, beguile should get you re-rolling on those wounds that slip through (plus your S7 with lance - chariot killer!), I'm betting you r going to generate at least another 3 hits normally which thanks to your lance auto hit. A good charge should get about 6 wounds off the Lord alone, now its time for the dragon...............

Changes you have to do IMO:


Dismount the lord off the dragon, unless u really want to keep it, but it costs 200 pts which is just too much for the new VC.

Then you could take 1 necro for the power stone dance thingy and 1 scroll, or even 2 stones.

I'd convert your 2nd vamp (the one with staff of damnation) to a jassot thing (avatar of death for great weapon, Dark Acolyte (or infinite hatred if you're not keen on magic), Talisman of the Lycni, Enchanted Shield and eventually something else if you have free pts.

Then the knights - it would be really easy to convert those 2x5 w/o barding Black Knights into another 9 barded knights, where the lord goes.

I would also take 1 Black Coach instead of 1 of the Varghulves, but that's a personal choice.



This way you'll get 1 lvl 3 caster, 1 lvl 2 caster and 2 lvl 1 casters, which makes a total of 9 dices with 1 bound item and 1 power stone - more than a descent support magic phase.

Imo this way it looks very similar to the standard old book Blood Dragons - they always had 2 big blocks of Black Knights, backed up by 2 thralls and winged nightmare count, or mounted count, thrall and 2 necros for a 9pd 1 bound item magic phase (death)

That was pretty much what I was going for, I play BD's .

I really want ot keep the dragon in, I have had him for ages and never really used him. I think the blitzkrieg list can really work now, with the main problem (marching) having been vixed (to some extent).
