Abyssal Terror - Images

Hey everyone, slannfrog here.

I am going to began converting my Abyssal Terror soon and was wondering if you could help me out. As of now I'm looking for some cool ideas for this "creature of death."
If you could post your pics of the Abyssal Terrors you've constructed I would really appreciate it.

so the body is pretty much done.

Instead of paying for a head I thought about making mine out of green-stuff. The base of the head is from a shaved giant head.
I'm going for the look of a giant maw that can devour a man whole.

(Hopefully this head thing works out.)

What other ideas have you for it? Some rising corpses always do nice work on the base, and if you made it ripping somethings head off (like the running scared dude from the giants with his head missing :lol: ), that'd look ace. Better use a regular enemy, either from fluff or real battles

It is great, quite possibly the best Abyssal Terror I've seen done, mainly because its one of the few models that looks like it has been moulded together from other animals, which fits the fluff.

That looks seriously cool!!! But how do you do with the base? I mean, if you should upgrade Mannfred to be flying around on top of an Abyssal Terror, he would have to use his ''horse''. So what base should one actually use for a Terror? Is it a base bigger than a cavalry or how does this work?

Since the Abyssal Terror is a Large Monster I put it on a Large Monster Base (50x50mm). If you should upgrade Mannfred on an A.Terror he'd need put be on a L.Monster Base as well (remember, an Abyssal Terror isn't a calvary but a totally different modelall together. Also, an A.Terror is a Flyer and all flyers are to be based on square bases).

The head doesn't really do it for me, but that doesn't in my view detract from the quality of the work. Great conversion work and finish.

Very nice, but I agree with Skaramak on the head. The teeth seem a little too straight. Other than that, this is an awesome model.

I can understand why that one causes terror... The head is very creepy, but the head looks a bit... foreign to the body.

The Terror looks amazing, I just know you're going to have a blast with that.

I hope this isn't off topic but was the Winged Nightmare also a Large Target? I bought one to use as an Abyssal Terror but it came with a 40x40 base. Does anyone have suggestions as to where to procure extra 50x50's or do some just make them from scratch?

Yeah, my winged nightmare came with a 40x40 base too. what a rip and its "illegal" with the WHFB rules. to solve the problem i glue together FOUR 25x25 bases, it did the trick.

Drat. I placed my terror on the 40x40 today assuming the old "use the base it came with" rule. Where is it said that large targets (Or US4+ Monsters) require the 50x50? Errata? The only reference I saw to large target in the BRB was page 28 in regards to shooting.

I'll probably just do as you did, and throw 4 of the smaller chaos-warrior sized based under my base. I'd already built it up some so more elevation would be cool, I suppose.
