Back in the Game! - Legion of Night advice.

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last dabbled in the hobby...but am glad to be back.

I started out playing 7th and 8th edition Fantasy and lost my way when AoS arrived, but recently been drawn back into the hobby and thought this might be the place to start.

I would be very grateful for some advice in putting together a small 1000pt army to learn the game, I have the following models that I could use to get me going.

• Manfred
• Vampire Lord
• Necromancer
• 20 new skellies
• 20 Graveguard
• 5 Black Knights
• Corpes Cart

As a rough idea I was thinking of running a Legion of Night list with Manfred, Vampire Lord, 2no. units of 10 skellies and 20no. Grave Guard. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Also open to the idea of including the lovely new Blood Knights and Zombies in place of the Grave Guard.

My club opponents are using the current season of the generals handbook and are semi casual players.

First of all, welcome to Carpe Noctem!

regarding your list, considering the model you have and the fact that you're going to play at 1000 pts, there's not so much you cando. I like your list, at 1000 pts Mannfred is almost immortal and brings great utilities, plus his c.a. stacks greatly with the one from the VL, turning you grave guards into (slow) killing machine.
use the skellies only as back units to guard your rearlines

Other than that, you need to try it and see how it works.

I would give your VL a general trait as unholy impetus, paired by the vial of pure blood... At 1000 pts you won't face many decisive combats so you can go all in when you need it

Thanks very much for your reply Unas the slayer, looking forward to giving it a try. The tips for the Vampire's trait and artifact look very interesting. Been looking at some battle reports, excited to play the game...looks easy to play but hard to master

Yeah I agree with everything Unas is saying. A simple list might look like:

• Vampire Lord: General, Command Trait: Terrifying Visage, Artefact: Gem of Exsanguination, Spell: Blades of Shyish.
• 10 Deathrattle Skeletons
• 10 Deathrattle Skeletons
• 20 Grave Guards with Great Wight Blades

That is 960 points.

One question though, why would you want to run the list as Legion of Night?

Hi Sunny, thanks for the reply. I was thinking the Bait might be useful for the skeletons, and ageless cunning for the Grave Guard and Vampire.

Would other Bloodlines be worth exploring?

You're welcome my dude! I am happy you find it useful.

I would recommend Legion of Blood. They have better traits and artefacts and you can then make your Vampire Lord a better caster.
