I have always used a simple flock. Made from saw dust dyed greed and used it on my bases. My entire warhammer collection is done this way. I am looking for some sugestions on a new method. I currently use plain static flock on my 40k models, I like this, plain and simple grass lands.
Also any ideas on a quick and easy way to clean off the old flock off exiting models or would that be risky?

When I'm basing, I do a mix. I did sand before, and painted it with Goblin Green (lol, old skool). Now I got green flock, but I'd use sand too, mostly a bit stony. This makes it look less dull.

If you want to try something interesting, there is static grass: you can make tall grass from it. Looks pretty slick.

You can make a lot of funny additions. Just take a look at your bits box and find some stuff to add on.

Regarding removing flock, it can be tricky - I've never tried it. I don't bother much. If you only put on flock, you can add some pebbles without ruining the base?

You could probably if you careful use a small modeling knife to get under the flock because if you have used white glue you should be able to pry it off in one piece...i had to do this with an old vampire model...
