Currently I think the importance has been put far to heavily on the BSB, generally you are a idiot for not taking one, some armies can get by, with my WoC its not as important. The problem with rerolling all leadership tests is that it reduces the impact of the following:

Fear
Terror
Frenzy berserk rage (this may as well not been added)
Panic
Break tests

You factor in things like leadership 9/10, banners that boost leadership. stedfast for easy stubborn on large units, personally I think reroll break tests is more than enough, having missions like blood and glory certainly give the BSB some more importance.

I'd prefer to see either

1) BSB back to being used for Panic/Break tests only

-or-

2) BSB is allowable for everything, BUT the unit must use its own Ld for any rerolled Psych tests...

It the stacking of IP and BSB that makes it too powerful.

The problem with discussing the BSB now, is that we have not yet discussed the basic rules that this affects.

For example Fear and Terror are basic rules, which then the BSB currently has an effect on. If we do change those rules you may feel differently about how the BSB should work.

So I think this thread should be put to one side for the moment, and we get the basics out of the way first.

Personally DoN I think you are totally missing the point as to why a BSB rerolling all leadership test is far to powerful, especially with how many units now are IP. With how the BSB works at this point in time psychology has a very small effect in the game, causing fear and terror is something that so rarely takes effect on the game you may as well not have it.

You should also consider I am mainly a WoC player with few units that actually cause fear (I actually very rarely use my VC).

Actually I very well understand how powerful the BSB re-roll.

But I am not discussing the BSB, nor making a point on its current rules (if I did I would agree it is OP).

What I am saying is that we should not be discussing the BSB at all yet. The BSB rules are built from the basic rules. How can you design a special rules or amend them, if you have not yet confirmed what the basic rules will be?
