Hello,

Since the new VC models just look to damn cool I couldn't resist and got myself some zombies and skeletons. Since I am a cheap ass I want to get as much models from a box as possible and the most acceptable way of doing this is to model them so that it looks like they are freshly summoned and are still digging their way out of their graves. I my mind it looks all cool, but having a picture in mind and actually doing it are two completely different things in my life. So how do I make bases that look like bulging or breaking graves? Should I use GS or miliput and how in Vlad's name do I model it?

Also I would like my army to have a graveyard in autumn look. So tombstones, dead grass, fallen leaves etc etc. Does anyone have a guide or pictures of something like that?

The biggest problem that I have is that I know just what I want, I just have no idea how to make it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've found that just piling up GS and coverin it with sand is a quick and easy solution. Yuo can even layer the sand to look like cracks before painting!
Another suggestion I heard somewhere was to use cat litter (yes...cat litter), layer it down and glue it with wood-glue. I heard the suggestion to make dry, cracked desert but I think it would work for tomb ground too.

I've done bursting graves two ways. The first is chopping a skeleton up so that it's in a "rising" pose, then pushing green stuff all around the figure so that it looks like he's slowely pushing out of the grave.

The second method is to green stuff a crater on the base then put half of a figure in the crater. I use this method for figures that've pretty much half climbed out of the grave.

The green stuff then has coarse sand glued all over it. Apply static grass where you see fit.
