Been making tons of VC lists to possibly take to GT this year. I've recently settled on a liking of a decent to heavy magic lord with a Wight Bodyguard, a necro on CC and another vamp to lead a block of skeletons. Details below:

Hybrid Lord:

Lord - MotDA, Beguile, Terror; Blood Drinker, Flayed Hauberk, Book of Arkhan
= 455pts
Vampire - Infinite Hatred, Avatar of Death; Accursed Armor, Talisman of the Lycni, Black Periapt
= 195pts
Necro - +2 Spells, DS, Scepter of Noirot
= 135pts
Wight King - SoK, Nightshroud, BSB
= 145pts

25 Skeletons - FC, Dead Legion
= 237pts
20 Ghouls
= 160pts
20 Zombies - Std, muso
= 92pts
5 Dire Wolves x2
= 80pts
Corpse Cart - Balefire
= 100pts

18 Grave Guard - GWs, FC, Strigos Banner
= 299pts

Vargulf
= XXXpts

Total = 2248pts

Lord and Wight run with GG. Decent PD pool, hatred and packing at least 2 Danse spells to drop on them if they get stuck in longer than one combat. Power dice will go into zombie unit from the get-go, bulking them up to tarpit a unit so I can get a flank charge going. Considering dropping zombies and going with 2 15-man ghoul units though.

Mannfred:

Mannfred - Skullstaff, BoA; Barded Steed
= 595pts
Vampire - DA, AoD; Flayed Hauberk, Lycni, BP
= 200pts
Necro - +2 spells, DS, Scepter
= 135pts
Wight - SoK, Nightshroud, BSB
= 145pts

18 Skeletons - FC, Endless Nightmares
= 189pts
19 Skeletons - FC, War Banner
= 197pts
15 Ghouls
= 120pts
5 Dire Wolves x2
= 80pts
1 Corpse Cart - 1 Unholy Loadstone (Necro on this one)
= 100pts

18 Grave Guard - Full Command, GWs, BotB (6x3 formation)
= 309pts

Vargulf
= XXXpts

Mannfred and Wight run in one skeleton unit. Vamp and probably necro in the other, mabie necro in Ghouls like suggested below. Raise both units and mabie a zombie unit for the first few turns till i'm comfortable. Ghouls to flank, Wolves to re-direct.

EDITED: Dropped a CC and Spirit Hosts to field the Grave Guard unit. It can assist skeletons in flanking rather large units that I might need S6 + KB attacks against, or take a unit head on with a charge if i'm confident they can break it (Seven S6 attacks hitting on 3+ can do alot of damage).

This list is rather killed with 11 Power Dice: Plus any wounds done at the end of opponents turn, and the Black Periapt if I can save a DD. 2 Bound spells.

Let me know what you think, and which list you prefer as an all-comer tournament style list.

I would say the Mannfred one but drop one of the CC and the Spirit hosts for the GG unit n the first list. I personally would also put the necro with the CC in a ghoul unit.

Sounds like a good idea DoN...I love Grave Guard, so it kind of hurt to lose them in the second list. Think i'll run 18 of them with GWs, command and BotB and have them go 6x3. They'll be for flanking, and taking certain hard units head-on with flank support. Thanks for the idea DoN...

I love the Crown...the problem is it takes your lord out of the fight and you gota buy him an 80+ point shield to keep him safe. Just too hard to pull off in 2250 really.

Go for the Mannfred list, same amount of characters, better spell casters though don't bother with the AoD on the second vamp, you can't increase your dave past 2+ with the Flayed Hayberk and 20pts is just not worth it for a GW or extra HW, take summon ghouls instead so he can increase the x15 ghoul unit before you get into combat, make sure you also put you cc mounted necro in here to protect against unwanted missile attention. Plus Mannfred has enough casting power himself, I would say put a balefire on the CC instead of the Lodestone but thats just my preference. Reading through some of the other posts it seems like a good idea with mannfred it to use steal soul to increase his number of wounds, even with just his basic armour, 7/8 wounds is going to make him tough to kill, just watch out for killing blows!

The GW is mighty nice though. With the Talisman of the Lycni he can charge out of the unit up to 18" to smash up a chariot or what. I have, however, considered plenty of different builds. Summon Ghouls might be nice to try out indeed. I've also considered a full fighty build of Infinite Hatred and Walking Death with a Flayed Hauberk and SoM to deal some hard wounds out and give the ever-wanted +1CR (by me at least).
