"this would give you a place to blog at your own pace, with the commenting features you so love, without the hassle of reposting on 3 (or more) different sites, and/or competition to be seen"
How would no competition work? The more blogs you get, the ones less posted will be less seen, so instead of painting at your own pace the old competition will start. This is a nice utopian vision with absolutely no chance. Its what happens on forums, the more members, the more impersonal and competative it will get. But without new members it will die out. It is a neccesary evil.

but thats the thing. its just a blog, like blogspot, but if people wanna comment, they just register an account. they wouldn't make thier own blogs on my forum, but comment on the blog. if they wanted thier own blog, they could make a forum for thiers.
What's the problem with free blog software which enable people to comment on your blog too (well, without registering)? I think there are excellent blog websites where you can start out with.
To be honet, a forum is for discussion, and (un)consciously people will know that. So if you want to have your blog discussed is up to you
Besides, we do have paint log 'forum' on CN... And indeed, the less you update or get response to, the less it will be read/viewed. It's a sad occurance in the world of Internet, and there's no solution close at hand to combat it, other than trying to view them all!
[mod]Moved to Mortal's Realm, seems better suited for this[/mod]
