I have some questions about ghouls any imput would be a huge help thanks.

1. what turns people into ghouls?
2. How long does it take for sombody to yurn into a ghoul?
3. Do ghouls have a sense of self or do they just think about their next meal.

Basically a ghoul is a degenerate human being who has feasted on the flesh of another human and in doing so over time lost his or her sanity. Also, I believe reading somewhere it may of been Night's Dark Masters that ghouls do not have a sense of personality and basically fight for whatever scraps of meat they can get their claws upon.

There are meant to be two types of ghoul:

The first type are those that used be normal villagers, possibly in the empire for example. In times of famine they turned to the only food source left - other humans. As this went on, combined with inbreeding etc they devolved into Ghouls.

The second, was a race of humans who took to worshipping Nagash when he came to Cripple Peak. Because they feared him, they started worshipping as a god. He quite liked this, and made them carry out the ritual of the Dark Feast - eating human flesh tainted with warpstone. This eventually caused the civilisation to devolve.

From the fluff I've read, they retain a small amount of intelligence, say that of a small child. They can hunt, know dangerous situations, can manipulate easy things like door handles. However they have no sense of reasoning, and a purely driving by animal instincts, i.e eating, sex etc. Because of this weak personality, they can be easily controlled by vampires.

Ok so a few more questions
1. whats a Gast (hope I spelt it right)
2. how big do ghoul clans get
3. do ghouls have shamins in their clans
4. would it be possible for a ghoul to learn how to do Necromancy

1. A Ghast is a dominate Ghoul within the coven of others, ie. The strongest would be the leader, therefore the Ghast.
2. I am not sure as to how large a clan of ghouls could get however I imagine that perhaps whole village s could degenerate to the level of ghouls.
3. I don't believe so. As such primal creatures i don't believe that Ghouls would be able to influence the Winds of Chaos for their own bidding, which also answers question four.

1 - As Crimson said
2 - Any size dependant on surroundings. if there are no enemies around they can become very large, like the thousands of ghouls camped out in the desolation of Nagash. Clans in the empire for example, will be small due to humans killing them etc.
3 - Nope, they don't have the mental capacity
4 - Using the current fluff, no. However it may be possible by twisting the fluff. I.e, a certain ghoul was experimented on by Necrach's, got more intelligent and secretly learned necromancy from the necrach's spell books.

Or perhaps a tribal shaman that was degenerated into a ghoul, he would still retain a sensitivity to the winds of magic and be able to employ them, however menially.....and their is always room to maneuver fluff wise if this is in the hopes of creating a ghoul army.
