Greetings one and all,

Microsoft must be fuming and Firefox just ain't too pleased as Google have gone and released an internet browser called 'Google Chrome'. I am currently using it as I type this post and to be frank, it makes CN look a bit more user friendly. It could be 'shiny new stuff' syndrome but it honestly seems to be running all the sites I frequent quicker and lacks some of the more arduous stuff of Internet Explorer and Firefox 3.

What's everyone else's opinion - has anyone else tried the Beta yet?

Oooo - sounds shiny - how do I get it, more to point can I get it with my windows operating system?

Grish I have no idea what you said, perhaps an interpretation for us nontechnical folk?

I think so. I think Google hasn't released an operating system yet... That would piss off Microsoft really haha. Get the look of that? Search the internet on your desktop haha.

Info about MIME types

And yes, I didn't know what MIME was until now :P

The link MV sent says it all.... lol

MIME type in HTTP protocol tells your browser how to interpret the resource. That's why on some pdf links it will display it in your browser and in others it will ask if you want to save the resource.

IE (internet explorer) 6-8 is not compliant, and so needs to be 'tricked' into displaying resource files appropriately. Example: ASP.Net generates XHTML 1.0 Transitional (transional... yahoo...) docs, so it should have a MIME type of application/xhtml+xml. IE won't display it correctly if given that mime type, so it needs to be fed "text/html" as the mime type for this type of resource.

It's totally stupid, and Apache I believe has followed suit to feed this broken browser incorrect mime types (unsure if they changed the default or what).

As its now painfully obvious the consequences (haha...) of this, I hope google chrome renders and handles all mime types appropriately.
