Well, after think that i would like to do somthing different for my vampire counts army, i flicked through a white dwarf and found an article about a guy who made a Vampire Counts army out of Bretonnians... So instead of taking his idea directly (Making a Bretonnian army) i though of my other favourite army (Apart from Vampires :P) High Elves :grin:

So. With High Elves as the basis for the army, the next step was to line up what units would be used as what. So heres that phase...

High Elf Unit------------------------------>Vampire Unit
Spearmen--------------------------------->Skeletons
Archers----------------------------------->Zombies (And spare parts)
Dragon Princes---------------------------->Blood Knights (These would work really well i think)
Great Eagle------------------------------->Fell Bat
White Lion-------------------------------->Grave Guard
Phoenix Guard----------------------------->Cairn Wraith
Chariot(With Horses)----------------------->Black Coach (Once bulked up a lot)
Chariot(With Zombies pulling)--------------->Corpse Cart (Maybe, or juse normal model with HE stuff)
Lion(From Chariot)------------------------->Varghulf (No way sure about this, just an idea. Maybe both lions on the one base.)
High Elf Medium Cav------------------------>Black Knights
HE Dragon--------------------------------->Zombie Dragon (Who would have guessed :P)

Now there are some units left over that i cant find matches for...
Swords Masters---------------------------->???????? (Want to find one, love the models)
Shadow Warriors---------------------------> ??????? (Again, want to find one, love the models)
????????-----------------------------------> Dire Wolves
????????-----------------------------------> Crypt Gouls (I could make an army without these guys)

Now i found some example of what i want to achieve. One here, one on the HE site. Now on the He site there are some converted wolves. I dont have the skill with greenstuff to do this, so please dont say "Just do what the elf guy did" :P

The guy on this site
The High Elf Guy

So what does every body think? Am i mad?:rolleyes: Will i go down in a blaze of glory? :grin: Am i a blood genius? :| Please reply and say :P

Edit: I added a poll for fun :D

I voted with option 1. :mrgreen: I love converting myself. I hardly ever use a model as purchased if I can help it. Converting an entire army is definitely an idea worth pursuing. Your ideas seem sound to me. I can't wait to see what you end up with and remember to post pics when you do.

You'd choose White lions over Swords masters as Grave Guard? :|
They'd fit better I think fluff wise, IMO anyway

Other then that, sounds good
The lions off that chariot would make sweet dire wolves - even if it is copying, its such a sweet Idea :P
And I don't really think you could fit ghouls into HE bitz - They're toughness 4 basic!
I'd use shadow warriors as wraiths, with a bit of work they'd turn out great

The vargulf seems mighty stretched from two lions, I'd just make a massive beast with scraps of HE armour on. Spawn kit might work. As for not fitting in with fluff, Vargulfs are just deranged vampires! All they do it get huge and very pissed off!

Can't wait for pics

And I said cookie, coz no one out crazys me :P:|:D!!!

an elf cant become a vampire thought if we are speaking fluff......so you will have to work a way around that to explain it, sort of

elf/VC armies have been done a many times already aswell.....so its hardly the most creative or unique thing one can come up with.....heck...i have seen way more elf/VC armies then bret/VC

and well:
dark elf models > high elf models

Not to bust your bubble but vampire High Elves seem to be something... well, almost common, too common. Of course there are fluff complications as well as elves cannot become vampires, period. There are other ways for elves to become undead but not a vampire, it does not matter than GW had an article on it as they are pretty good at making mistakes in their published articles, fluff and rules-wise. Think more like Wight Lords instead of elven vampires, one step above Wight Kings except with a more powerful will, kinda like a cross between Tomb King and Necromancer.

This sholdnt stop you though, do an army you will feel good both playing and painting. That is the most important thing IMO.

Hmm i didnt realize there were many HE/VC armies... But at least they wouldn't bee as common as plain VC armies :P Also i am in Tasmania, so i dont expect to see anything similar...

As to fluff yes i have heard that, but i could just say that they are human vampires, that have tried to copy elves in all ways, and so look like them...

Hmm well i went into my local GW and had a look at the HE models... And after much thinking, i have decided that i like the normal Vampire Counts models better than the HE ones... And also the fact that i just dont have enough money to see this project through...

Ah, money the great obstacle... I know it all too well. However on the bright side of things I started to look around alot more on what kind of bits and stuff I had laying around. Also started to use Green Stuff alot more extencievely. As a result of this I´ve saved alot of money just on this, it is amazing what you can do with them random plastic leftovers with a little imagination.

Though in this case that would mean high elves bits which might be abit hard without high elves hehe

Anyways, good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Hehe yeah thanks. I have been doing a lot of greenstuff sculpting recently, just for the sake of getting better at it. Tonight i sculpted some basic armour on some of those LotR wood elves...
