I was Wondering how many people on the site actually play The Lord of the Rings Battle Strategy Game. I have a Mordor force, some Moria Goblins and some Dwarves.

I play The Lord of the Rings Battle Strategy Game, I have: Minas Tirith, Rohan, Goblins, Uruk-hai, some elves, Eastalings, Harad/corsairs, Mordor and most the big monsters (Fellbeasts etc). Hardly any of which is painted.

I do, it was my first game and I play it regularly. I don't see myself stopping any time soon.
I played War of the Ring and, to tell the truth I really didn't like it. It seemed like a oversimplified version of Warhammer fantasy to me, only slightly less tactically based. I'd much rather play Warhammer as a tactical, regiment-based fantasy battle game than Lord of the Rings, as Lord of the Rings fills a much needed, individual based skirmish game in my eyes.

That and spending 100$ on the book, the stupid movement trays and all of the required bits and bobs didn't seem like a good idea to me.

I still play the old version.

Yeah I don't like war of the ring either, its too simple and feels like its been written for 12 year olds. Our store had a war of the ring tornament the other Night... 2 entries...one worked in the store...and the other worked in the store :).

I stopped because I never got a good game I guess and when I did the only list I liked was my Arrow spam Grey company with Avengers and Dwarf rangers...

Another SBG player here.
Would've stopped a long time ago if it wasn't for the fact there's living gaming community near with some LotR support.
Most of the miniatures look great. There are many scenario's to be played, you don't even need too much stuff for most.
WotR is a nice game, though I prefer SBG. WotR is only real good when played with huge armies without too many heroes and magicians. Also works well as a historical tabletop game in that case.
