I didn't know if it was going to be the last or not, but let's say the ending was... conclusive. :'(

I was sceptical of it at first, looked a bit babyish. It was brilliant, however, and I came to look forward to it. Merlin finally went nuclear and whooped some ass, but then it turned out that the big "prophecy" of Arthur's kingdom [SPOILER ALERT] hasn't happened yet... a parting shot of Merlin looking old in the modern day, with a truck going past... waiting for Arthur's kingdom...

So very sad!

EDIT: GW should pay the BBC, because it's wanted me to make a Camelot Bretonnian army!

The lady of the house loved Merlin. I didn't watch much, but I appreciated that it was for the most part wholesome and fun. The last shot of every episode was Merlin and the old guy sitting around a table laughing.

It's cool the fantasy genre has that kind of entry.

Interesting, so is he waiting for a reincarnation, or have they turned it into some arthur-is-the-antichrist style scenario? I haven't watched it, and unlikely will for a long time. Soemday I plan to, but... Meh. Just never seem to get around to it. Smallville is still on my watch list.

Merlin being 'old' (or as old as Merlin is capable of getting) in the modern day isn't too bothersome. In many of the renditions his aging is wonkey, being somewhat 'ageless' the least of them (as in the Once and Future King he experiances time backwards). What is midly bothersome is a five (?) season TV show of waiting for a young Arthur founding his Camelot if its going to end with his death (which I assume is what you imply :P ) and no Camelot. Perhaps it is simply something they will reveal as a flash (far) forwards if/when they do another season. After all, thats still Merlin's fate even in most of the original tellings, as Arthur doesn't make old bones in any of them and his kingdom crumbles.

Ether way, it pretty much matches with how most series' have strange endings these days. Its the reason I don't watch much TV. I enjoy a series, then they try to be all profound, fail terribly, and ruin the end of the journey.

I suppose you all realise that the Isle of Avalon was Glastonbury Tor? They really played up to the tourist board! But the series was fun, if a bit dragged out.

I would have liked this show better if not for that silly cow playing Guinevere. Isn't she supposed to be beautiful? Why oh why did they choose such an unattractive actress for the role?

I didnt think Guinevere was that ugly although morgana was far more attractive

I really enjoyed the Merlin series and was dissapointed to find out it was to be the last series at christmas, I can appreciate what they did at the end in that Arthers Kingdom is yet to come, but at the same time think it could of ended with Gwen and the Knights, Still it was a good programme with episodes often switching between serious and light hearted, think ill have to hunt out the dvd at HMV

Indeed, Morgana was much more attractive! I've just realised I lost interest after Morgana's main plot lines finished

Yup! Morgana was hot. They should have cast her as Guinevere.

I watched it from time to time when I was home.

In my opinion, the show had merit. Everything was great about it, especially the acting. That is, except for the writing and directing.
There were so many plot-holes and cut corners that I wanted to lock myself in an iron maiden and plunge over Niagara falls. That is all.

Harland, your picture reminds me of a graphic novel I used to read. Looking For Group. Richard (a powerful necromancer) and his pony....ahh good times, less coursework and more time.
As to Merlin I don't really watch shows. Never had the time. I have seen an episode or two and from what I gather it is quite recent, compared with others. Seems to me that they got the money they needed out of it and have moved on.
Someone should do a Looking For Group show.

Ahhh! How could I have missed the tick marks on his eyebrows. Yes it has to be Richard. By the way you got me reading it again :) FOR PONY! xD

You should have seen Harland during Christmas :innocent:

Meh - in the beginning it was my favourite webcomic, but then it started to get worse and worse. I haven't read it for a while, but I think it's just in its death throes.

There is a kickstarter for a film....should be good if they stick to the original plot. I haven't read all of it....yet! And not in its death throes, oh no. Raised 70k, that's not what I call being in death throes. Have you seen the Richard movie on YouTube?
