Hi sorry to post such a similar thread so soon but this time i really have no clue. i recently gve up with my attempts to create a server and started trying to install a few mods that caught my eye, namely:
Too many items
and
Buildcraft
but as usual nothing is as simple as it seems.
Following a few 'how to' vids I have installed:
modloader, modloaderMP, minecraft forge, buildcraft client core, buildcraft client builder, buildcraft client transport, buildcraft client energy and buildcraft client factory.

And when i load up minecraft it gets past the mojang logo and shows this error report:

Mods loaded: 3
ModLoader Beta 1.8.1
mod_BuildCraftCore 2.0.1
mod_TooManyItems 1.8 2011-09-14a

I am totally confused any and all help would be very much appreciated.
Thankyou.

Go back and simplify things.

Add one mod at a time. At this point you don't know what mod crashed or why.

What I suggest is either:
a) Verify your settings. Check each mod and see what their requirements are, and if you have them (What version of Java, other mod dependencies). See if you can solve it that way.
b) Rip it all out (uninstall) and put the pieces in one by one. That way you know which one is the problem when it breaks and you can resolve it that way.

My guess is that it's a version issue. Your error says:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: buildcraft/api/PowerFramework, method: savePowerProvider signature: (Lbuildcraft/api/IPowerReceptor;Lnu; )V) Incompatible argument to function

This means that it's trying to use some code (a function). The code exists, but it is a different version (the code doing the calling thinks it has x arguments, when it really accepts y arguments, or the arguments themselves are somewhat different). So a version issue, but you might have the wrong version of Java, or one of the core Minecraft programs.

Thankyou so much!

I went back deleted the .minecraft folder and started again this time with the 2.20 buildcraft files and it worked!

great mod and thankyou very much!
