Hi

I know next to nothing about PC's. I just installed Windows 7 and Micro Word. I added CCleaner as that is what someone added on it some months ago.
Now, Internet Explorer shuts down every other minute, it resets the songs on youtube, logs me out of every forum I'm on and every page I visit on Youtube is covered in adds so there is no comment section.
CCleaner has been uninstalled and the problems persist.

I really help with this folks. Afterwards, I'll need assistance with something else so thank you for your time and help.

Sounds like a virus to me, try downloading avast! (it's free) and running a scan to see what it picks up.
It'll take a while, so it's a thing best left to run over night.

EDIT: Also, if you don't have any anti-virus software installed already it's best to leave avast! there after it's done.

Yep I agree. If you can avast is an ok free one however Komodo is also free and I have found it has better reviews.

Also find and install the following:
Malwarebytes
Superantispyware

Both have free versions that are very good at picking up nasties the antivirus might miss.

After that restart, make sure your windows updates are fully upto date and let us know how your computer is running.

If you got the Windows 7 install media and the product key I'd suggest backing up important files to an external hard drive and completely re-installing Windows. After clean install you should get an up to date anti-virus software and I'd highly recommend using another browser in the future, like Firefox or Chrome. After the anti-virus is updated you should scan the old files on the external hard drive. This is usually considered the last option but I'd like to point out that even if you find viruses after witnessing them in action you cannot be sure that they are all cleaned. Nasty fact about malware that compromise Internet Explorer is that it can and often will open your computer for almost anything. So the original problem is most likely not the one you've noticed.

If you don't wish to go on with the re-installation you should run a complete updated anti-malware scan with the program of your choosing. Avast! is one free choice, like mentioned above. Get some other browser, IE isn't exactly in the most reliable choice. If you stick with IE it is very important to keep it up to date. In fact, everything should be updated regularly to maintain good protection.

Also, if you or anybody else have been playing with CCleaner without knowing what they were doing it is possible that you yourself have broken the browser by messing with the registry. CCleaner should have taken backups from the registry before removing any, try installing it again after checking for viruses and see if you can restore the backup. I hope you didn't remove the backup when uninstalling the CCleaner.

Final note: Change your passwords. Either from another computer or after you've cleaned the problems on yours. While compromised try not to handle any important logins like banks, e-bay, work, social media or anything else that might ruin your life.

Besides what people have said above me.

Don't use internet explorer. Sure it has been improved a lot over the years but still not something I would use x)

Thanks for the replies

Had someone come over and solve the issues. Downloaded Malbytes and another lil' program that eliminated some nasty threats. Couldn't uninstall IE so we installed the newest version of it...and the popups went away!
I started changing passwords so hopefully there won't be issues there
Now I'm taking things I emailed myself and trying to put them on my desktop but I'm having issues.
I wrote down all the steps she went through to change my docs into Micro Word and set up shortcuts for them but as I opened some of my docs, they either automatically went into Word format or refused to, saying I couldn't save them that way because they might be incompatible.
How do I activate the auto spell check feature? It worked just fine with the first few docs but the really large one won't do it.
Why wouldn't the Create Shortcut feature work? The docs simply stayed in a folder and didn't appear on my desktop.

Thank you for your time, everyone

MS Office Word uses .doc and .docx file extensions. Any text document that can be opened in Word can be saved as these formats by selecting "Save as..." and then selecting the file type from the list. When converting files it may alert you that some designs may be altered to fit the new file type but you shouldn't worry about this alert if the text you see looks like it should. If the text looks like you intended then it will save as such. Any alerts in this case are just technical stuff. Different code - same result.

Shortcuts can be sent to desktop by right clicking on the original file and selecting "Send to..." -> "Desktop (Create shortcut)". If this option is missing, try Shift + right click on the file instead.

Spell checking and grammar helper can be set up from Word's options. Also, there should be a little box in down-left indicating the status of spell checking and the language it is checking for. Try checking these for a reason why it is disabled.

Thank you very much!

I've been told that if a file is too big that there might be issues transferring it?

If you had an external hard drive with FAT32 file system on it then the limit for a single file would be about 4GB. I believe Windows of the current age is well aware of the issue and will prompt you with an error "File is too large for destination file system". Exceeding this limit with a text document is highly unlikely as it would require several hundred thousand full pages of text to fill 4GB.

Did you find something broken anyway?

All the italicized words and phrases were in normal type as well as the names of each chapter. That's all I've found to be different, I hope that's it.
