I've seen the Necrarch. The skin makes the model look really dramatic. How did you do the skin? :smile:

I've never seen that High Elf of yours. Is that one of the models you mentioned having more detail than Warhammer models?

I hope I can ever paint as good as that

Love the Elf. I'm a great fan of LoTR models, but my eyes can't see the detail that well. Have to get started on painting those once I get myself one of those table magnifying glasses.

Anyway, very nice work on both of the models. I especially like the Necrarch's cloak. (But I like red, especially when it's done well, like on this one.

To answer all the questions:

-Skin?
IIRC, it wasa mix of rotting flesh with elf flesh. For the first coat (the one over the black undercoat) I added some graveyard earth. Then the mix pure. Bleached bone was added to the mix for highlights.

-LotR model?
Yes, that's one of those Last Alliance Elven archers I mentioned. They're great fun to paint, very nicely detailed.

Hehe, I've got the luck I'm short-sighted. Right, it's kinda irritation I need lenses to see things at a greater distance (wel, that's everything further than a meter..) 100% clear, but closer objects are clearer for me, and the point were you can still see clear (from a certain distance you can't see things clear anymore, a couple of centimeters) lies closer to my eye, so I can see things which are very close still good! :grin:

That's one of my secrets, but a secret I'm willing to share.

Really, it's that easy! Just make a blob of glue (certain kinds of glue make very good strings, just try it out) on the table (preferably with a paper under it, but I won't because I always paint on a big newspaper anyway). Than pick a little bit on a long object, everything between a needle and a ice stick will work, and but it on one end of the bow. Move it to the other, turn it around the end so it sticks. Wait till it's dry, and you can even paint it (very lightly!). Mostly you better wait with the string untill you've painted the whole mini, because it can break fairly easy (depends on the tickness of it.)
