War of the Beard Undead?

Pardon me if I've put this in the wrong place, or if I'm repeating a thread, I haven't found one. I'm interested in making a Vampire Counts army from the era of the War of the Beard, but I only have VERY limited ideas about how to go about doing it... I've built a couple of Spirit Hosts out of High Elf spearmen, but beyond that I'm stuck. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Zombie Dwarfs and Elves.
Elf Cavalry as Black or Blood Knights.
Skeleton Dwarfs (Cursed company has a Dwarf Skeleton model) but with their armor you really need Skeleton heads and hands on dwarf models for Grave guard and on Elf bodies for regular Skeleton warriors.

a few years back there was a White Dwarf that had a bunch of conversions for making an undead dwarf army i don't remember what issue and i don't have it any more it got torn apart when i moved...but i know there was one lol.

Yeah, I know I had that one too... man, it's ticking me off that I can't remember it! The next question to consider is how I would go about converting my Elves (might really downplay the dwarves since I just don't think they would look right as anything other than, say, Spirit Hosts). The best thing I can think of would be to cut their arms off at the wrists and replace them with skeleton hands (so that they have the elven sleeves with skeletal hands) and replace the heads with skeleton heads atop Green Stuff to make the neck joints. The trick would be making the skeleton weapons match up with the High Elf bodies... *disappears into his coffin to ponder*
