Waryarn is a brand new game that you're just guaranteed to love, in fact, it's SEW GOOD it'll have you in STITCHES!
You buy your troops in small packs which contain the pre-cut canvas and stuffing to compliment the wide variety of needles, thread and googely eyes you'll adore collecting to make your minis as realistic as possible. Will your warlord have a fuzzy mop of wire wool hair or soft sleek angora ponytail? The many many choices are as long as a piece of....thread!
Once you've assembled your army (and made sure it's out of reach of any family pets), you're ready to start! By this point you'll be so charmed by your cuddly little critters you'll have forgotten that there is an actual game to be played with them, and once you remember this you'll be flooded by joy! It's SEW exciting!!
The game is played on a 6" x 4" wooden grid stretched with cotton. A small child will need to be present to begin with, place it directly in the middle of the two armies are the one it walks towards gets to deploy first. The child can now be returned to its house, or passed to another pair of players ready to begin. If you do not have a child of your own, a small puppy will suffice.
There are 4 phases to each turn, Movement, Magic, Shooting and Combat. A lot of it is based real time.
Movement - Very straightforward, you move your plushies forward however much you wish based on the movement stat
Magic - You hit the stopclock and get your yarn ready, if you manage to successfully stitch the spell in this time you may cast it. However watch out for your opponent who will be ready to dispel it with his black yarn, the cheeky swine!
Shooting - Each long ranged weapon has a TS, or "TimeSkill" to the newbie, this is the amount of time you'll have to shoot in. Once the timer is set you stitch onto the board for as far as you can, and at the end of the time, this is where the shot will hit. There is also a skill called "SMS" or "Sewing Machine Skill" to please the cheese players which a few units have, this acts the same as TS but the amount of time you can run your machine along the board. These moves are highly powerful and painful to save against unless you have a SMS Save, in which you can shunt your own machine at your opponent and hope to drive the shooting away from your troops (and maybe into his!)
Combat - You can use your equipped scissors to cut [the number of attacks allocated] the stitching of the plushie in base to base contact with one of your own. If there is a save, the opponent has a small amount of time to attempt a repair. This has to be to a sufficient standard or that unit is taken off the board. Certain powerful armies can equip electronic meat knives.
