Hey all, with all this griping about how GW seem to want to simultaniously screw us over and shoot theirselves in the foot at the same time with things like price hikes, new distribution rules etc. I thought it might be a nice change to say something nice about the money grabbing gits!

Here's my thanks to GW.

I ordered 2 Tau Drones, just ordinary Gun Drones. They were like a week late, I didn't really care much but the manager of the branch, Plaza in Oxford street/Tottenham court road, gave me a box of Kroot as an opology which I then cheekily swapped (with his permision) for Fire warriors. Big up the Plaza manager, Great guy, great staff to.

While visiting the Blue Water store last year, the barcode on my Banshee model wouldn't read, my Dad joked that it must be free, the manager scanned it again then agreed that it must indeed be free and then gave it to me for free!

GW I love ya.

Hate the bigwigs though!

Please leave your own praise here so that we can share the love.:zombie:

Last November, at the Sugar Land, TX GW store, I went with my wife to just LOOK at the new Skaven models. She knew I had done miniatures in the past, but that was about it. Scott there (don't remember if he's a manager or not) asked my wife if she knew anything about the hobby and she said that she was knew of it. After a few minutes of enthusiastically chatting with her and describing the modeling/gaming process, he had her wanting to play within about 15 minutes. He didn't pressure her or jump all over her. Just shared his enthusiasm. Now, my wife is a High Elf-er and I'm back modeling again.

I got a pack of Warp Spiders without an exarch, told the GW guys and got an entirely new pack for free as well.

I think it's the big-wigs that suck. The individual people are awesome.

it really is everything about great customer service. The folks at my store give it their all to ensure that the store is a fun environment for everyone there, no matter what they are after. They arrange fun mini games to have running most of the time, they have always got some kind of tournament running for those who are competitive as well as occasionally running more narrative like campaigns. LikeCelldweller said, they dont pressure you into anything, they really do just share your enthusiasm for something and they aren't opinnionated against particular people and every time i have had a problem with any of their products they have always replaced it on the spot.

Recently they have opened the store's bitz box for anyone who is doing conversions at the store and they are always willing to provide assistance if you need it with modelling or painting. Just the other day i went in to pass the time and my skeletons were brought up and one of the staff took the time to go through the paints that i owned and figure out the best colour scheme i could get.

They also run freebies and special events at times like christmas and easter. this easter involved the purchase of 120 chocolate easter bunnies to act as trolls/ giants/ dreadnaughts for each of the gaming systems to have a fun easter related game. we didnt have to pay to join in this game either. they also provide their scenery and boards to the local tournament scene when it is required.

A similar thing happened to me as well with Striking Scorpions. I had one that was missing a foot. They replaced the whole blister. (Sadly, this only netted me one extra SS since they were 2 per blister.)

GW Burlington is still the best ever store! I worked there for a little over 3 years and had a blast!

Once we got a great manager and got rid of the chaff, we really started to bring the whole community together with all kinds of fun mini-games such as;
- Mad Grox, Da Race Warrior
- The Zombie Game (how long can the villagers survive!)
- Squig'itch (gobo style quiditch!)
- Chariot Racing and/or Squig-Hopper races
- Punt-a-Runt (my fav - ogres kicking gnoblars to see who boots 'em the furthest!)
- Super Smash Heroes! (smash brothers style character fights)

Plus our last fantasy campaign was a huge success, and best of all, it stayed quite friendly & lighthearted all the way through!

But most of all, GW 2013 will live on as a true legend across the entire company, because the Manager & I managed to summon Captain Planet!!!

Cheers!

Maybe I just got unlucky or this is a problem with German stores but I always, always, always feel uncomfortable at GW and will try to find any other kind of place to buy my minis and I have visited different GW stores and not just one.

In my experience one store I visited several times used to be run by condescending neckbeards who felt like the kings of the world because they lived the live of Warhammer and had absolutely no idea how to adequately treat a customer, which were more of a nuisance to them.
If I come to buy your overpriced product I really don't need some "Space Marine" with a mullet and a room in mom's basement to be all high and mighty because I play the wrong army or don't belong to the crowd of kids that hang around the store every day.
They loved the adoration of their 13 year old fanboys and played crappy metal music. I also never got any freebies

Since then I have heard that GW introduced some sort of program to make their store workers more customer friendly(I think it was a known issue that some stores had problems with unfriendly or just awkward staff) and my last 2 visits(to different stores) were just creepy because the guy on duty now jumped at me as soon as I entered the store, introduced himself, asked for my name, asked what army I played and was basically always following me around the store and asking questions, probably in an effort to integrate me into the community.
This all felt like some fake company scheme like having to smile all day long when working for Walmart or something like that.
It just feels awkward and I can not browse the store on my own without being bombarded with questions and being offered to sign up to the official site or get my coupon book for buying stuff so I can get a free army book after I spent 500 Euros or so and so I just don't go there anymore.

And to not further derail the praise I will make my own thread on this now... ;)

Erry time I've went they've been really polite. A little over-zealous, but they know their stuff, and I gotta respect em for it. My first models were mail ordered, and the service was fine.

I only go to GW stores as a backup if my hobby shop doesn't have what I want in stock though.
I enjoy browsing several other hobbies, rpgs, adventure books and whatnot, and it always feels wierd going into a store that sells nothing but warhammer/40k and GW stuff.
