ok so i cant stand the model that GW has so kindly supplied us with for are less than terrifying drunk dragon... it looks like its about to cause more harm to itself than it opponents... also it doesn't get to breath fire on its enemy's oh no it get to throw up on them... again the vampire counts get a drunk dragon...

so any way i want to convert my own to at least make him look bad ass... and not tripping over its own feet. i'm pretty sure actually it looks quite similar to one of my ex girl friends when she was drunk.

but any way i was thinking about cutting up a lord of the rings balrog well just cutting off the head and maybe replacing it the neck and head of another dragon maybe the new high elf one? or maybe a nazgoul neck i want to play around witht he postion of it as well but any way that's going to be this months project me thinks.

any ideas b4 i set out and buy the bits?

The balrog body doesn't look too much different than a generic dragon IMO, the main difference is the head and flames which are the bits you said about removing.

The winged nazgul is a cool looking creature, I can imagine that with some green stuff wounds and wing tears.

Check out this little thing: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1300199&prodId=prod1140119 - it's spindly and weak and looks like it would lend itself to a green stuff make-over. It's pretty small though, judging by the base.

yeah i had looked at that b4 but didnt think much of it lol, ive been looking at lots of the LOTR moddels as they have some pretty cool dragons. hidden away there :)

It sounds like a good idea. The balrog is an awesome model and should work well as the base for your dragon. Although I think that you could use some bits from the zombie dragon, like the head. :)

And if your old gf looked like that dragon when drunk... then... damn! ;)

What head were you planning on using on your conversion?

i hadnt given the head of the dragon much thought ive actualy got an old skelie dragon neck and head from way back its so old they don't make it any more lol. was thinking with a little time and effort i might use that. or find a bits website and order certain dragon bits

so im either using my old skelie dragon neck and head or im gonna get the nazgol and use its neck and maybe i diffrent head not sure.

I still quite like the 4th/5th edition zombie dragon, it's on ebay reasonably regularly. I.e. somebody is selling one about every three weeks.

If you're not after a GW model then there are companies out there selling some quite nice skeletal dragons. No links I'm afraid, but again check ebay.

You could always consider going to a store like things and picking up a dragon ornament, they are often of a suitable scale, and sometimes are nice. They are usually terribly painted however, and would require some work.

The Winged Nazghul would be a good pick, yet here's the one I'm debating on for my own battle host:

It's called Kaladrax, it's a 40mm Reaper model of pure metal awesomeness!

I bought the High Elf dragon. I saw someone use the skeleton head from the giant box, mess up the wings a bit, green stuff some rotten flesh, and made a nice undead dragon. That's what I plan on doing. Give me a few years and I'll get it done.

Use those as cold ones for my lizardmen

Are they very big? Compared to the GW Cold ones they look stupidly large, excellent models I want one!!

The one in the back is what a Balrog with a neck looks like, perfect for a Dragon and doesn't look anything like a humanoid body!

The Balrog is a very good place to start, for the neck in the picture i used the round track spacers from an Imperial Guard tank glued end on end to length and then covered with green stuff.

The plastic dragon skull from the Giant kit is great and is what I will eventually use for my dragon but I will be building a bigger body than the Balrog because my Abbysal Terrors will be that size and I want my Dragon to be at least a third bigger than the Twins.:zombie:
