Albatross- Now we're talking. I'm seeing a Great Eagle kinda bird, with, lets say, a -1 to leadership/Attack rolls/Something for being within 6 inches. Kinda like a terror check, but more along the lines of disheartening.

Quoting the most detailed description of this unit from the Special Units thread.

I'm seeing it as something along the lines of a Terror-causing, single-model flyer on a monster base, possibly with a 6-inch aura that forces the rerolling of successful Fear/Terror tests and/or denies the use of items, banners, or special rules that might increase their chances of passing said tests. Thoughts?

I can see that. We would also need to make it pretty tough, so that it can function on its own. The rules flying and Cause Terror sounds nice.

I think that everyone agrees that that's a good choice, though we have to think about wether or not it will take a supportive role or an offensive one.

They seem fair to me. You need at least 3 for a flank charge, they're not Overly cheap but they don't die too fast.
Something in me wants them to drop dead fish (or just poo :P) like the Lizzy man "Drop rocks" rule from their flying skinkies. Sounds like a typical dead bird to me ;)

By the very nature of its area effect rules I think it'd be more of a supporting unit than an offensive one.

Unless the albatross becomes a skirmishing flying unit with terror and extra CR. Then they'd be a bit more offensive.

Don't know about poo or dead fish-how about parts of the albatross itself?! Can you imagine a decaying bird flying-i wouldnt want to be beneath it!

I was actually thinking a normal sized albatross, on a normal sized base, flying around being too small for the enemy to waste fire on but causing psychological damage to any units nearby.

Depending on the species of albatross, a 'normal sized' one can still have a wingspan of twelve feet. No reason why we couldn't have it on a regular sized base, but if we want to go with the largest example of a normal albatross, it may be more viable to put it on a larger base just to avoid issues ranking up next to other models.

That said, if we want to do a Giant Albatross, and make it a monster mount with an AoE penalty ability...

I'm still throwing in my hat for the "drop dung" idea :P
Tbh, I'd say they should be the same-ish as fell bats - they're pretty big but not Huge. Plus, bat swarms don't look threatening at all :P
