Necrarch:[/SIZE]
Rackham's Asura of Sarlath

Expensive (€30), but lovely models. Perfect as Necrarch vampires.

Strigoi
Rackham's Chagall the Ever-Hungry
FRMVCH03_1.jpg

Nice model. Could serve as a Strigoi.

Rackham's Chagall the Dog of Darkness
MVCH04_2.jpg

Chagall's alternative model. If you buy both of them, they would make a fine, unified looking couple of Strigoi.

Grave Guard:
Rackham's Black Paladins
UKMVSP06_2.jpg

They are a bit expensive (12 € for three), but they make very cool Grave Guards.

Rackham's Kaïn the Scourge
MVCH06copie.jpg

Perfect model for a Grave Guard champ in a unit made up of the Black Paladins pictured above.

Rackham's Armoured Skeleton Warriors
UKMVRG01_2.jpg

7.50 € gives you three of these, so they're not that expensive.

Rackham's Skeleton Spearmen
MVRG02_2.jpg

IMO, these would make good GG. 7.50€ for three models means they are affordable.

Black Knights:
Rackham's Scavengers of Acheron
MVCE04copie.jpg

Again, they are very expensive (30 € for three), but the models are outstanding. (at least they don't ride the skinny nightmares.)

Rackham's Heavy Centaurs of Acheron
MVCE_01.jpg

These aren't as expesive as the scavengers. They cost 6.30 € for one, so they are cheaper than the GW Black Knights

Fell Bats
Rackham's Gargoyles
UKMVCR04_1.jpg

Very expensive models (16 € a piece), but very good quality.

Rackham's Morbid Angels
FRMVVO01_3.jpg

12€ for 2 of these means they aren't to expensive.

Banshees
Rackham's Banshees of Acheron

These are cheap. For just 9 € you get 2 Banshees

Rackham's Gorgon
MVAV02copie.jpg

Nice model, but a bit expensive at €10

Skeletons
Rackham's Morbid Puppets
MVRG08_2.jpg

10 € for 4 Skeletons makes them expensive, but nontheless, they are great models.

Rackham's Armoured Skeleton Warriors
UKMVRG01_2.jpg

7.50 € gives you three of these, so if you use them as normal skeletons, they are a bit expensive. Better use them as Grave Guard.

Reaper's Kazig, Undead Pirate
2437_G.jpg

A nice Skeleton champion. Alternatively, he can be used as Luthor Harkon.

Zombies
Rackham's Zombies of Acheron
FRMVRG04_6.jpg

Nice models, but WAY to expesive to be used in large blocks. (10 € for three)

Rackham's Zombie Box
UKMVRAG1_1.jpg

Box of 10 zombies for €25. More Expensive then GW, but better looking models. These are multipart models which can be assembled in an almost unlimited amount of ways, making for a diverse unit.

Ghouls
Rackham's Ghouls of Acheron
UKMVSP05_1.jpg

7.50 € for three models means these would make the perfect Ghouls for your VC army.

Heresy Ghouls
ghoulies009tp5.jpg

ghoulposse020rq9.jpg

Best Ghouls around IMHO. Mix perfectly with GW's Ghouls and cost €10 for 2 packs of 3.

Heresy's Flesh Golem
ai152.photobucket.com_albums_s194_mrmuller_frnk048.jpg
A bit big for a regular Ghoul, but perfect as a stand-in Ogre merc. :D

Wraiths
Rackham's Spectre of Acheron
MVSP03copie.jpg

A bit expensive (12 € for one), but it's a great model.

Werner Klocke's Undead Lady
UNT001_1.jpg

Perfest model for a wraith. Shame his sculpts for Reaper aren't as good as this one.

By the way having never bought any figs from these guts, are they in the right scale?

Yep, they're a bit bigger, but that's not to bad. They're supposed to be elite anyway, so the size makes them stand out a bit more. :)

RE: Alternative models for VC

Saw this thread and wanted to add a couple vamps from the Reaper line that I personally like a lot.

Monique de Noir
Reaper Dark Haven line
#2551
Possible stand in for a Blood Dragon. Nice pose, more dynamic than some of the static GW figs. Nice detail on the Armor as well. Perhaps a tad small, but stick her on a rise, rocky outcropping, pile of skulls, etc. and you should be set.

2551.jpg

Judas Bloodspire
Reaper Warlord line
#140160
IMHO one of the best "classic vampire" sclupts I have seen. Could eaisly be a Von Carstein. Again a much more dynamic pose, very nice detail in the clothing/little bits of armor. While the cape may be a bit much (and make him hard to rank up if sticking him into a unit, its a seprate piece. One could just leave it off, or substitute a GW cape from some other model. I especially the the arstiocratic feel of this sclupt.

Cheers,
Wilhelm von Carstein (Dang just realize I mispelled Carstein in my user name, any way to get that changed?)

RE: Alternative models for VC

Heresy Miniatures have some very good undead miniatures - the ghouls feature earlier on in the post but they have some great vampires and others worth posting here

I would like to also say that there are many other alternatives out there, such makes like Black Tree Design, West Wind, Foundry, Dragonrune (A personal favorite), Alionas, and many, many more. Many of them are really very good and I advise trying some out EBay is a great place to some across some other makes relatively cheaply. Although you must remember that you are not aloud to use non-Games Workshop models in Tournements

that is GW run tournaments - other independant ones and club ones often don't mind minis from non GW sources.

Wilhelm - as far as I know GW are happy with scratch builds, although you may want to bring wip pictures to prove it.

I love the Rackham minis, and the Heresy winged Srtigoi.

RE: Alternative models for VC

I've been looking for a good model for the upcoming Wight Lord, mounted. I have found plenty that could be a Wight Lord on foot, but nothing really stellar that's mounted. I'm thinking I'll have to assemble one from plastic bits from other sets.

Also, I've been looking for something cool to use as a winged nightmare and a dragon. So far, I will use the HE dragon, but I don't know what to use for a Winged Nightmare. I really dislike the current model.
Ideas?

Edit: I think using a bunch of pieces from some Tyranids would be a good start for spikes. I could use the carnifex's body... maybe a bit too big around though. Not sure what to do for wings... anyone modelled a winged nightmare from different things?

I made my spirit hosts and necromancers from Empire Flagellants. They have a lot of conversion staff (skulls, bells, scythes). I will put some pictures, when i finished their paints...

As mentioned, Reaper has some excellent figures.

As to full sculpts, it depends. The current 'ard Boys rules state that all minitures must start as Citidel minatures. That would rule out full sculpts.

And I love these because of the conversion aspects. Makes it easy to make your fellbats, abysmal terrors, flying vamps, ect.
