So I guess I'm the only one that isn't liking the new models. I feel that every new release from GW is worse then the last one.
I can't deny that the sculpts are good but the style is not to my liking at all apart from the spirit hosts which are ok.

I'll go on record as not liking all the models either. I'm excited about Nagash. He and the Spirit hosts look great, but the Morghasts look more like they belong in a Tyranids army than a Vampire Counts Army. They're really nice sculpts, they just don't match the established army aesthetic. It's the same reason that I don't like Tyranid Gargoyle wings for Vampire Count conversions: The anatomy and structure of the alien wing is "off" for what a bat-themed creature should have.

Not digging the weird chitinous armored?/ sculpted stone? mount of the special characters, either. It looks like a cross between a Tyranid and a Khorne Juggernaut. The characters riding it are nice, so if they do all come as a single kit it might be worth picking up for the three new characters.

I think the Morghasts are more Nagash themed than Vampire Counts in the way that they have the same souls within a construct thing that the special characters mount has, so i dont believe they are meant to fit with Vampire Counts specifically but to stand out as servants of Nagash

That big mount is gunna be painted metal with the skulls inside made Ethereal. Add some ME ghost skull tendrils coming out and boom. Machine powered by souls. (Copyright Barrow Industries 2014. All rights reserved.)

Probably going to give mine the effect of Necron vehicles, the dark green look will fit with the rest of my army. Will magnatize mounts, but intend to have Neffy on a standard mount, Manny on the Nightgeist, and have Arkhan as a mounted Wight King.

Nightgeist?

Further, anyone have any thoughts on Nagash's rumored new fluff, especially with Manny having to perform a ritual to bring him back?

The giant steeds they are on are called Nightgeists. I believe "Mortarch" refers to the Lieutenants themselves.

Just if anyone is interested, I know that the white dwarf has a battle report. Nahash (just Nagash at the start) vs a MASSIVE TC army (I have no idea how many points but it was huge) I didn't get a chance to see what happens but it looks a bit one sided at the start.

The big guy can summon 3 times the undead per spell. i think he could even things pretty well.

If thats the show down i hope to hell he can summon units from scratch and if he can...
I need more models. :P

Sigh, so this is what it feels like the be everyones summon caddy army.

I completely disagree with you over-romanticised view of Vlad. I have yet to read the Vampire Wars trilogy so perhaps that may change.... But an angel? No, I think not. During the first battle where he revealed himself to have command of the undead, his Sylvanian troops were ambushed by enemies and he summoned his necromantic magic. The troops were freaked out but his Sylvanian honour guard stood fast and shouted the men onto victory. After winning against his enemies, he then turned his undead troops on his living troops and killed them all anyway, and proceeded to raise them again. Hardly angelic. True Sylvania prospered under his iron grip for 200 years but then Germany prospered under Hitler for much of his rule prior to the outbreak of WWII.

If this is the new lore they are just vilifying Vlad but they wrote him out of some key parts already and switched Vlad and mannfred around when facing Archeon, its just GW ruining things again...
He was nothing of the sort, The Red Duke on the other hand has done things like this.

Sorry guys. This site http://grotorderly.blogspot.nl/2014/08/white-dwarf-30-wycieki-leaks.html had it up but looks like GW Legal got to them. You will all get the chance to see it in a soon to be released WD Weekly. The only thing the picture said is that the lore is usable by every wizard in the game. It did NOT give the actual spells.

One more rumor I read but did not see a picture of is that Lord allotment is being raised to 50%. Not sure if this is a campaign only rule or for all of WHFB. Likely the former. Since Nagash comes in at a whopping 1000 points I assume they had to do this for the campaign. I mean who plays 4000 point games? :o

Kinda wished I saved that picture now but on the plus side i did copy all the images of the models so if folks need them prod me.
I won't however post them for obvious reasons, other sites can go get themselves in bother but I like the nerd base boob culture we have going on here. ;)

I give it 20 minutes before I see a really lazy conversion of it being turned into a mauler fiend...
Predicted here first folks. :P

I disagree. Nagash made an elixir granting him eternal life, and the vampire elixir is a failed version of that. He could potentionally improve them. As pointed out in this thread every time they fail to answer him hey get another curse that makes their state worse. Nagash probably has the power to undo this, and we know he can curse them further. And you can still go kill a dragon.

And it seems like Nagash wants the empire alive since he is sending Manfred (Vlad?) up to help them, instead of letting them die, and raising them against Chaos

The only problem I have with Nagash is that he blatantly stole 40k lore! Obviously he knows that the person with the biggest hat is the most powerful

It's more a case of sending Mannvlad up to stall Archaon so he doesn't get in the way of Nagash's plans. Meddling superchaoswarrior!

@Banat But not letingt the Empire and chaos fight it out, and stepping in later makes no sense! Why save the Empire? So he can become an emperor, and have food for his little helpers? Doesn't he want the world dead? What planes does he have with the Empire where they are better off alive? If he enters a "Empire + Nagash alliance" he is just going to dwindle his own troops, and have a harder time fighting the Empire afterwards.

There better be a good explanation for this.

You misunderstand. Nagash is busy fashioning all these plans. I would imagine lots of big summonings, raining blood, and some more subtle tricksies all across the Empire to ravage it. What he doesn't want is Archaon sweeping down from the North with his silly chaos warriors, marauders and corrupting chaos magic to ruin his plans. Keep Archaon and his meddling out of the way whilst he tears the empire apart. That and he probably feels taking on the Empire is easier than taking on Archaon after the Chaos Gods have rewarded him for laying waste to the Empire of man, cus he'd be even MORE beasty than he already is then.

I just feel sorry for the empire they are stuck in the middle of every massive D-Day threat. That being said I really don't know how the empire will come out of it alive...

The Empire has always stood its ground, even when Azavar Kul razed Prague to ashes. They will stand no doubt. What Nagash and his minions will do, when and how - is really interesting. Especially when considering such awesome models! But I'm somewhat disappointed that there's no Abhorash…

Perfect set up for reintroduction of updated Bretonnians. As a fellow Kingdom of Man, it is in their interests to ally with the Empire.
