Hey just intro-ing, I recently got back into Warhammer so all the AoS stuff is new to me and I'm just getting a grasp on the Death faction as it is currently.
So I'll be looking for lots of advice and experience if it's available!

Kind of worried about manually moving zombies one at a time lol....

Welcome aboard.

Yeah, to move hordes in AoS is a nightmare.
movement trays suited for round bases do exist, but they are imo not reliable tnx to the basic mechanic of AoS, that requires units to move freely and to adapt each round you your tactic, so models must be positioned in a conga line, or form a large group, or placed in a circle to screen a valuable target… all these things are not compatible with move trays.

Once in a while i play hordes. Then i turn back to use few, larger models, or cav. / elite units with a tenth of pieces each.

I just gave aos the finger and went back to 6th, hundreds of people are doing the same.

Given the amount of new material that GW constantly produces for AoS, i'd say that the flow of new players amply compensates the loss of those hundreds.
But that's off topic.

AoS and FHFB are very different games, each one with good and bad parts. The goodness or the badness are often subjective... but AoS is not a friendly system when it comes to move hordes, and that's a cold fact.

That's ok. I slogged through a few aos games and realized i hated 40k just as much with fantasy skins. 6th has made a worldwide comeback, with tournaments and the whole bit. Enjoying the new models for wfb though. The warcry furies are great.

Welcome aboard.

It's tricky, I thought about getting the little trays but you're totally right I think it defeats the entire purpose of the skirmish type movement capabilities the new format requires for good tactics. I saw some cool third party alternatives that have more shapes and stuff but it comes down to I guess using some trays for the bulk and then keeping some loose for the edges, if that makes sense.
It sucks because I do really love loads of skeletons! But at the same time, as I am still learning all the units and stuff, I am thinking about fielding forces of units like Vargheists and Zombie Dragon and stuff like that for a while, for ease of learning and speed of play, like I'm aiming to just play lots of games to get more varied opponents and learn the rules for races.

I really was cautious at first.... but now I seriously love all the new detailed models, back when I collected Warhammer a lot of stuff was still metal. I've gone a bit mental and already have a pretty big army to paint!
