Which new Mortarch do you choose?

So after a very long time I finally got some paint on my mortarch model and played my first game. Its fairly easy to magnetize so you can swap out any of the three. I put Nef on it and tried out my first game. On a side note, this model is kind of poorly designed. They got too cute with the...

    End times magic shenanigans

Yeah the word "Attempt" changes the dynamic of the rules. But nowhere is an "Attempt" defined. Without being defined you can say anything is an attempt. You could throw a ball at the ceiling and say "that was a successful pass attempt". You would assume that the proper generation of dice would...

    End times magic shenanigans

As for the generation of more than 3 dice, that just seems cheesy to me. I have never personally generated more than 3 outside of channeling. As for VC relying on it, thats silly, we still have other tools outside of spell generation such as a Blasphemous Tome and Balefire. If I have to pick...

    End times magic shenanigans

Yes sorry, the book has been sold out everywhere. Finally I have access to the next page where they re-state this rule using the word failed instead of successful, causing confusion. Still, logic would continue to hold to the fact that a dispel is a failure. While it is correct that the BRB...

    End times magic shenanigans

Although it is talked about repeatedly here i will state it very clearly: The edit times magic does not use the word failed. Assuming the word failed is what is causing the confusion. "spells can be used any number of times in each magic phase, so long as all previous attempts have been...

My thoughts on adding Tomb Kings

I disagree that there's room for a King/Prince in our lists, but bringing lore of light is an interesting alternative, especially with new magic rules. You cant compare GG to other special infantry becasue GG simply have worse stats, little defense and ASL compared to others with similar point...

    End times magic shenanigans

This blows the game wide open. For better for for worse, this gets people talking about warhammer. Magic has always been a heated subject. Some clubs have gone so far as to ban the magic phase. Everyoen has their own opinion on how the magic phase should play out. This is the way GW is telling...

My thoughts on adding Tomb Kings

Many of us are playing with the new rules simply because of the removal of crumble. But is there any reason to start including TK? Unlike the absurd combos now viable for Chaos and Elves, VC/TK already have a lot of overlapping units and rules. Also TK is probably the second worst army (behind...

    Hexwraith Complexities

So can hexwraith just nick the corner of a unit - or move into a unit, reform back around and move right back where they started and still have activated SH since they "touched" the unit while moving?

    Hexwraith Complexities

First of all, there's some clear things not open to interpretation: - hexwraiths cannot pass through engaged (in-combat) units - hexwraiths can move though any unengaged units (even friendly) and through any terrain - As fas cav, they can reform as many times as they choose, but no single model...

    WHFB - 9th Edition

The problem I have with 8th is that things are getting too big and not much is being held sacred. For example: A. Strength S3 - average strength of a man w/ basic weapon S4 - mightiest heroes, slow giant men/beasts, powerful weapons S5 - Unholy or magical strength. Giant men/beasts with razor...

New Undead Legions Idea - Reviving the Grave Guard

OK - lets get crazy. - 40 GG, GW, full command, BotB, - Tomb King, flail, Armor of Destiny, Dragonbone gem - Vampire, supernatural horror, Forbidden Lore, lvl 1-2 Lore of Beasts, Nightshroud, Ironcurse Icon. - Necrotect, Obsidian Lodestone - Wight King, BSB, Screaming Banner or Razor Banner...

Which new Mortarch do you choose?

ty - fixed The main issue I see with these mortarchs is one Banishment can wreck them. Standard S6 Banishment on an average 3D6 roll of 11, thats 5-6 wounds. If undead armies are going to be more popular, you're bound to see a lot more light builds.

Which new Mortarch do you choose?

Vlad is by far the easiest to kill (Not easy, but easiest). Get him in combat with a OTS char that can cause 3 wounds on his 5T and hes dead (only to return with one wound, but still). But Vlad is definitely the infantry-lovers choice, as he's going to boost any infantry unit with -1 to hit...

Which new Mortarch do you choose?

I want to love Neferata but its Mannfred all the way. Sure Neferata is harder to wound in CC and is basically unbeatable in a challenge, but Mannfred can make sure he has a lot of dice, (cast Danse on himself to get the same re-rolls) then eat all his dice to cause like 10+ wounds, and get that...

New Undead Legions Idea - Reviving the Grave Guard

I'm leaning toward new Mannfred and 30 GG with Tomb Prince. So far I'm considering the new Mortarch models and 1 Tomb King model. I wont be crying if the combined undead is only a phase, but I'd be very surprised. I ithnk they would at least absorb some of the models into 9th edition. Don't...

New Undead Legions Idea - Reviving the Grave Guard

If your opponent believes your combined army to be "overpowered", then playing against you will only make his tournament list stronger. I understand the appeal of trying to refine a tournament list, but there's no reason to expect your opponent to have to play by the same specific restrictions...
