I'm not a big fan of the GW zombies either. Fortunately, any model can become a zombie with some simple conversion work and the right paint job. I'm running with a Lustrian theme. My zombie forces have a mix of humans and Skinks and Saurus. I plan to add Goblins and Skaven to it soon.

If you are going to spend 25 points to get another Lore, why not make it a level four caster? At least in games with enough points for it. If you really had your heart set on Metal or any other Lore, I don't see the great harm in making your Blender lord a level 4 caster and picking a hero...

Just be careful when using Glittering Robes. It's a terrible crime to make a vampire sparkle.

I read multiple cases of people putting ONE cairn wraith in a grave guard unit. What's the point? The VC players in my area seem to either put four or five in a unit or zero. A lone cairn wraith won't make your men invincible and it denies you a S6 killing blow attack.

A BSB has a 50 point magic item limit so can't take Glittering Scales and Fencer Blades. On top of that, as mentioned before, I believe no vampire should ever take Glittering Scales. It's wrong for vampires to sparkle.
