Yeah the banner is the lynch pin without it they would be mediocre at best. It was nice feeling confident throwing the gg with my lord at units with ranks without fear of crumbling for a change.

The second list looks good in some areas the screams from the banshees and general lack of magic weapons from ogres means ethereal give them a hard time. Still a lsck of protection for your lord though. I have never run a sgk so I cant say too much about him. But it looks a fun list if nothing else

Yeah I do tend to agree with you bounce. I dont mind zombies failing miserably because I dont expect them to do anything else. But ghouls need a lot of energy spent on them to get anything back

If this was me I'd swap talisman of endurance to talisman of preservation on your lord. You dont want to send your hexies in combined combat with the zombies or you will lose them in one round. But I guess with your wraiths in front rank it reduces incoming attacks so thats a moot point. One...

Yeah I think my problem is that I love horrors they are imo the best unit we have and feel there smaller counterpart should do something similar bit of a tall order though I guess. So who would be a good target for them?
