So as you all know in my other thread on here i am no good with making lists at all XD so a way i thought i would learn is to enter my local GW's fantasy league starting next friday :) like the title says its 1600pts fixed so once the list is handed in no changing it so got a list written out ready but before handing in i wanted everyones opinion on it

Ghoul King with Red Fury, Fencers Blades - 345
Necromancer with Dispell Scoll - 90
Necromancer - 60

30 Ghouls with Ghast - 310
30 Ghouls - 300

6 Crypt Horrors - 238

Spirit Host - 45
Spirit Host - 45

5 Hexwraiths, Hellwraith - 160

That is one of the versions of the list i have written out the other verison takes out the crypt horror unit and replaces it with a Terrorgheist and the other ghoul unit has a ghast in aswell but unsure which would work better

I quite like this list, but there are 2 things I would change. I'd drop the crypt horrors for a Morris engine and I'd squeeze in the Dragon bane gem (2+ ward vs flaming) on the ghoul king.
Also I don't have my book on me but I think necromancer is 65 base pts.
Ghoul king is still vulnerable to killing blow but I feel a lot safer being able to save against flaming and +1 regen from the Morris engine.
I do like ghoul lists :)

You need more magic levels or you will struggle to get spells through as well as dispel yourself.
-drop 20 ghouls for small wolf units. Add the extra ten ghouls to the existing block.
-I don't care much for ghoul kings but if you decide to keep him take dragon bane gem and a strength boosting sword
-if you keep your current characters, drop a spirit host to upgrade the necro to level two

I have to agree on the magic levels. It also seems like a waste to just have lvl 1s when you invoc your horrors!

I also agree on the strength of your blender. I find it invaluable to have something in the army that can consistently push out high strength attacks to take on high toughness monsters or well armoured characters, cav, etc.

I think in a fixed list environment, having a lot of ethereal units could be a real strength, but might also earn you a bit of a name of cheese. It depends on your gaming group. Personally I don't htink you're over the top, but again, you'll need to be able to protect them from magic with your own high level caster's dispel bonus.

Thanks for the tips guys the reason i have gone down the ghoul route is because out of the 8 players taking part 5 are chaos warriors, daemons, mixed so thought ghouls might be the best thing

Ghouls are tough! Poison is also good against high toughness monsters. But to defeat high armour opponents, high strength is much more advisable.

Also, if you have a lot of Chaos around, you have lots of magic attacks from ensorceled blades on cav, and, well, all demons I believe have magic attacks.. So actually I would probably advise against taking so much ethereal.
