That is a good looking list you have there. It´s amazing how much troops you get at these point levels since one is not allowed to use Lord level characters just yet. Where do you plan on putting your characters?

Thanks Mikael.K. The General will probably lead the 16 Skeleton unit, giving this unit +1 CR by just being there (Walking Death). The second Vampire will lead the 17 Skeleton unit, giving also a +1 CR because of the War Banner. The third and last Vampire will lead the Grave Guard, hoping to use the Helm on the Black Knights and Varghulf (who will hopefully get quick into combat), he also has Walking Death, so this means that my three infantry blocks have +1 CR all of them.
I was thinking about exchanging the order of the Vamps so I can have in a Skeleton unit +2 CR because of Walking Death and War Banner, that'd be nasty. Or... What if I make the third Vamp a BSB so I can give up to +3 CR if I place them properly? That worked for me once really good. The only drawback... If I make the third Vamp a BSB, then I'll have to drop Avatar of Death, wouldn't I?

Cheers!

I'd find an extra point to give your vampire with Avatar of Death dread knight. 1 better AS (2 better when not in combat) and extra attack, better movement for 5 pts.

Very solid list although I'm a bit worried of your choice of general. Your general is on the front lines in the thick of the fighting.

In my last two games, my General died because he was in the front line. Where should I place him to prevent this from happening? I usually place three Vampires in the front line to help my three main infantry blocks, a unit of Skeletons without a Vampire I don't know how would work. So... how can I have a decent close combat phase, having my General protected? Placing him with the Black Knights?

Cheers!

Alone?

What do you think about these changes in my Vampires:

VAMPIRE (General)
Black Periapt
Helm of Commandment
Dark Acolyte
Lord of the Dead

VAMPIRE
Book of Arkhan
Dark Acolyte
Lord of the Dead

VAMPIRE
BSB
The Flayed Hauberk
Dispel Scroll
Walking Death

Right now your lord is naked, no AS or WS or anything.

Also do you know what your opponent is going to field?

Did your general die from saurus warriors or Kroxigors or JSoD or what? Cause if it were hereos and Kroxigors, I would try to go for WS with the Crown of the Damned or maybe Gem of Blood and not worry about AS...

My General has died against Daemons and Dark Elves. He has never died against Lizards... yet ^_^
Any tips on how to tool my Vamps, please?

I think not getting your general in close combat is the best safety.

Fielding him alone isn't a good option. I think your list is fine, and I think you have enough units to control movement. Just deploy smartly and use terrain to shield your general. Leave the unit only if necessary and beware of the dangers (in a forest, he's a skirmisher in terrain, so -2 to shoot, -3 if they move (except wood elves), magic will smoke him).

Normally I'd say use a bunker unit, and after a few games you may want to try that (10 ghouls should do it + champion) but its fairly low points and I think without a lord you're better with the units you have to have a good offense. Definitely do not go with Crown of the Damned with a Leadership of 7; half the game he will be stupid.

I'd also consider wraiths/banshees against lizards. They have lower than average leadership, they have lots of skirmishers, and not many magical attacks. Great against chameleon skinks and the like. What you have now looks pretty good though, but just offering it for consideration.

I changed my list, and I managed to get a Ghoul Bunker for my general. I took the Dispel Scroll, but I don't think I'll be needing it since my opponent cannot use the Slann, and I have 5PD which will probably be more than enough.

Better?

Looks good, although your second vamp is very vulnerable since he doesnt have a bunker unit like the general has (unless you want to put both in there).

Changed several things... I still don't know many of the rules... Is it possible to make a Vamp a Dread Knight, and placing him in a unit of infantry? I mean, a unit of Cavalry inside a unit of Infantry? And moving at the speed of the infantry? (Obviously) I've been told it's possible, but I want to ask you guys. Oh, my BSB is no longer a "Walking" Death, he's a "Riding" Death now... Just trying to be funny... Yeah... keep trying... ^_^
Here's the list:

VAMPIRE (General)
Helm of Commandment
Dark Acolyte
Lord of the Dead

VAMPIRE
The Flayed Hauberk
Dark Acolyte
Lord of the Dead

VAMPIRE

5 BLACK KNIGHTS

Do you think it's better now?

Cheers!

Yes, it is completely legal to have a mounted character join a unit of infantry.
Since VC RnF have 20mm bases vs 25mm cavalry bases, it'll look a bit odd, but just shuffle them a bit loosely (don't make the movement tray too small!).

The list in general I like. Maybe you'd want to change the mounted BSB into a Wight King, so the Black Knights keep their Ethereal movement? You'd have to buy them the March banner though, or run with the Varghulf.

Thanks, Hohenheim.
The mounted BSB goes along with either the first Skeleton unit or the Grave Guard one. I just took "Dread Knight" in order to have a better AS.
