My sleep is over and my armies shall rise again!
I'm considering joining a friedly 6th ed. tournament and would like to field my (Lahmia) Vampire Counts. There are 2 problems with this: I have never played Vampire Counts in 6th before and my army's heavy hitters don't exist in 6th. 1999 pts also means, no commanders. This actually could be good since my opponents will also have no commanders and a lower overall LD value should be beneficial for Lahmia.
I checked and I have enough models for a legal army. There is some, but not much, room for tinkering. So I'm mainly looking for advice regarding the items. I hope you can help me.
This is what I have:
Characters:
on foot: 1 Vamp, 2 Necros, Wight Lord BSB, 3 Wraiths
In addition, I have 5 hexwraiths, which could act as wraiths on nightmares
Core:
10 Dire wolves
20 Ghouls
40 Skeletons with spears and command group
40 Zombies (+20 almost battle ready)
Special
5 Bloodknights with Command => count as Black Knights
2 Fell bats (can get up to 3 more done if needed)
10 Grave Guards with HW+S, Command (can be upped to 20 with unit fillers)
4 Spirit hosts
Rare
Black Coach
Banshee (has to be made battle ready)
My current idea is basically use what I have with this configuration:
- Hero selection: 2 lvl 2 Necros, 1 Lahmia Vamp with Traits. I think with 3 hero slots this is the best option. Necros maybe with power familiar, black periapt and a dispell scroll? I'm considering the Asp Bow but it looks expensive and very situational. Sniping a wizard could be cool though...
- Skeletons start at 30 and can be increased during the game.
- Zombies start at 10 and are the bunker for both Necros. Most of the zombies will be used as freshly spawned units.
- I wouldn't use a coach since 200 pts are too big of a gamble against anything with S7. But you can convnice me otherwise. I have a pretty cool model conversion which I never used in a game.
- 5 Black Knigths look too small but I'd take them anyways because I'm lacking other heavy hitters. They are still more durable than the coach on average.
- I'd field the Grave Guard 20 strong (with the Unity fillers) and hope for many killing blows. Probably use the banner of the barrows to increase those odds. The army really is lacking it's punch.
This lead to a straight 2k pts list, so I just dropped a skeleton.
How would you field the ghouls? 2x 10, 3x6-7, or 4x5? They would be flanking with the wolves, screaning, or maybe protecting the zombie bunker (depending on the opponent).
I know that Lahmia is not the strongest (maybe even the weakest) bloodline. But I prefer loosing with style over winning without. My vamp is a crazy bitch, she doesn't accept any other bloodine.
Every suggestion and help is welcome!
