Hey all
This will be my second game effectively possibly fighting ogres and beastmen one after the other if there is time. I have a draft list made up which i would love some advice on as well as any tactics or pointers to watch out for all info is welcome. It would be nice to get a draw or maybe even the unthinkable win. Cheers

Master necromancer lv 4 top

5 dire wolves
5 dire wolves

25 zombies standard
30 zombies standard

1 x spirit host

6 x crypt horrors

1 x TG

What do you guys think? is it risky to just have the one caster?

Well Ogres can't do a whole bunch of tricks in 1000 like they can in higher point games. I would watch out for maybe a pair or 2 Mournfang Cav. They're really really good! Watch out for them. The Ogre Firebellies are probably the best character in their book for how cheap they are. You're going to fall in love with that TG in this Match up. Terrible LD (high of 8).

Beastmen aren't a super strong army in this edition. I wouldn't pay much mind if they bring minotours (They ogre sized beasts), they're super expensive and are pretty lack luster. If they bring a herd stone and a few casters (probably 3) then expect their magic to mess you up. If you see a huge Gore horde with a BSB, fear that unit. That unit will be able to total pretty much everything you have in this list but that will be their only unit. So dance around it and scream at it, Beastmen also have terrible LD, you got lucky matchups for low points. They won't have a higher LD general so you should do just fine.

also, remember terror on the charge essentially causes a panic check, if the tide is against you vs that big gore unit, consider charging your giest, its risky, but if he fails the test and is locked in combat already, you get 2 chances to mow him down (and with the giest being a flyer you have a good chance that he gets to chow down)

nom.... nom......nom

Right so the plan of action is to exploit the low leadership in every way possible. Shame cant squeeze in a death magic necro for some sniping. Better get reading on tactics for the gheist then sounds like he could be a game changer

Looks pretty good, only thing I would do is take the extra five zombies from the bunker and put it into the other block

ok so he just told me his army in advance to give me a chance i think
what do you guys think?

214 Firebelly, lvl 2 lore of fire, great weapon, dispel scroll and ruby ring of ruin.

265 5xIronguts, full command, look out gnoblar and standard of discipline.

129 3x leadbelchers

129 3x leadbelchers

21 sabretusk

21 sabretusk

21 sabretusk

200 giant

1000 points

As we have about the same number of troops to deploy i am trying to figure out who would be best to match up against each other. After reading tactics on the giant it seems tying him up with zombies is the answer but then is this going to leave my general vulnerable? I was reading the ghouls were good for poison attacks so should i use the horrors or would that be a waste of points?

Put your zombie bunker off the side behind the zombie block and turn one of magic start casting IoN to make that block bigger to tarpit the ironguts down. Have the spirit host tie down the giant. Have the TG fly behind the leadbelchers to shriek them to death, if you are at full health you can roll snake eyes and still do a wound to the leadbelchers. Then have the crypt horrors do their thing

You should try to tie them up with something first. Remember that the TG can actually "shoot" into close combat.

Just make sure that the TG is within 12 inches of your general, and that you place him last. Afterwards you can fly march 20 inches and then scream at whatever

Hey just wanna say a big thanks to corien ustrello masterspark and zully thanks to the tactics and pointers you guys provided i got the win against the ogres and better than that i really enjoyed the game cheers guys

Page 62 in the IoB rulebook says that units in combat are immune to panic checks. Charging the terrorgheist wouldn't make them flee so you couldnt overrun/ persue from the terror-charge on a unit already in combat unless they fled due to loosing the combat.

THere you go man, glad you enjoyed the game. Ogres are a tough army to fight and it always feels good to win against them.
