Anyone try this yet? Running them near each other to give a nice 5+ regen and 2D6 hits against thine enemies?

Only if both have the tome, you have a nice 31" zone for +2 casting! (Assuming they're about 7" apart to average their unholy radii for doubling up the regen).

Thoughts?

I think it's powerful, and the synergy is there, just not the points. I've thought about how the Drakenhoff Banner could be replaced with 3 Mortis Engines (and be bubbled!), but it's just not practical in a reasonably sized game.

I could see myself using a pair in 3000 ish points. While they could fit in 2000, I find the application of points outweighing the benefits.

Hmm; good points! Lucky for me, we've been doing mostly 3k games around here. :devil2:

I'm in the middle of a blood in the badlands tourney and one of my allies is a TK player, plan is on the massive team games I'm putting my 2nd Mortis and maybe another CC and hero-necro in the middle of his army and he's gonna 'loan' me some extra oomph for my side of the board. Both our armys are pulling a 6+ regen, rerolling to hit, and are Vanheling like crazy across the board as the enemy is futilely trying to call foul on 'marching' TK's of death.

sounds like a good tournament. write a battle report for it to let us know how it goes.
surely the TK incantations could help you too?

Any of you really going to buy and paint that model twice? That's like giving birth to a child. You have to baby those large, fragile models till the day you die. They cost sooooo much and for only 1 model. This 2 mortis build makes your army so dependent on regen, if your opponent is the least bit prepared for regen with flaming attacks or flaming magic that you are eff'd already before the dice hit the table.

Do it with him using a construct heavy army with a necrotect. Cheap(ish) 5+ regen for all constructs! Warsphinx with T8 and a 5+ regen anyone? Or Necropolis Knights?

I play 40k. Ever buy more than 1 land raider? Then two mortis engines is nothing lol. I will be buying two for 3k games and higher. And the coven throne because it looks awesome! Gw Once again has pick pocketed me.

Its only $96...... or $46 if you know where to shop.... and thats here in australia where everything is at least 50% more expensive.

Also, its not only 1 model. Its either a coven throne and a necromancer on foot, or a mortis engine and 3 mounted vampires sans mounts.

Plus the Banshees if you go Coven Throne, those are pretty easy conversions (Aka a Base? lol) But really, it is suuucchhh a nice kit. GW really does make nice models, I kinda stopped being upset with prices; Too much ogling to do.

Well, not to mention these are luxury goods. They are what I do to have fun, relax, and be creative. I don't need them to survive.

I can always choose not to buy them for the simple reason that they are not a necessity, and, as a business, Games Workshop is entitled to charge what they like. So you can buy them because you want to, go to other providers/companies, or simply not buy them (or less, or wait and save etc).

On topic:

I could see it being rather powerful having a pair in 3K, it's just interesting that your army will also be entirely walking through a minefield (should they go down) and your casters tiptoeing on anti-personel nukes. But hey, I like playing high risk high reward xD

I hear you. I want to get one, but I'm blanching a bit at the price tag, and I have no idea how I'm going to transport the damn thing. I'm thinking I might hack a bunch of the ethereal stuff off of it just to make it a bit smaller/more manageable.

It's a reasonable assumption now, just as it was in the days of Drakenhoff, that anyone playing against us will stuff as many flaming attacks into their army as they possibly can. I'd speculate that two Mortis Engines would yield diminishing returns versus points spent.

for a easy conversion, I was thinking corpse cart kit + mortis engine pieces. and maybe having enough left over to figure out what to do with the lahmian pieces or just make spirit hosts.

This is all speculation, I haven't looked at the model racks to know which pieces glue where for conversion.

why do people think it's so big? only on a chariot base. try lying it down in your case on the long side instead of having it standing up straight. want to complain about a model not fitting in a case, try the terrorgheist.

but yeah, on topic. in my 2400 storm of magic game for my local's tale of four gamers, i'm taking 2 engines. one for each fulcrum. and then i'll also get 6 banshees 3 vampires and some extra stuff for converting. in my opinion £25-9 is well worth it. also, cheat whilst your painting, if your hosts will be white, spray them white in the first place, throne bone? spray bone. then you just need to dry brush and paint the characters.
