So down here in Texas, there is a Tournament coming up in February,
and i need some c&c on my army so far.
Any Suggestions would be most appreciated.

Vampire Lord 415 Pts

General
Red Fury
Infinite Hatred
Dread Knight
Sword of Battle
Walachs Bloody Hauberk
Attached to Balck Knights

He is obviously meant to break things

Vampire 295 Pts

Army Battle Standard Bearer
The Drakenhof Banner
Infinite Hatred
Avatar of death(Hand Weapon and Shield)
Attched to Grave Guard

He is a support meant to keep the Grave Guard going

Vampire 195 Pts

Flying Horror
Summon Creatures of Night
Biting Blade
The Flayed Hauberk
The Cursed Book

He is an Assassin whose target is the enamy General

Skeleton Warriors 180 Pts

20 strong
Full command

Meant to stop Troops and do a decent amount of damage

Skeleton Warriors 200 Pts

20 strong
Full Command
Spears

Meant to stop cavalry and troops and do a decent amount of damage

Crypt Ghouls 168 Pts

20 strong
Crypt Ghast

Battle Standard Bearer Attached
Full Comand
Banner of the Dead Legion

Meant to break and kill units from the flank

Black Knights 205 Pts

General Attached
5 Strong

Banner of the Barrows

This is the main damage dealer of the army, it can rip up a flank

Fell Bats 100 Pts

Second Vampire attached

They smash into the enamy general's flank and then the Vamp issues a challenge to the General and (hopfuly) kill him outright.

Varghulf 175 Pts

Any missile units flank will be the target fo him

What do oyu think???
At the moment it comes out to 2238 Pts.
Thanks for looking.

On your lord, Might is better than Battle.
The unit you plan on him joining is way too small. He doesn't even get 'look out sir' (champion counts as a character for 'look out sir'), so enemy shooting is hitting him turn 1.

That may be his target, but he is incapable of killing a fighting character. With just 3 attacks, he probably won't even kill a wizard with no save.
Plus he cannot join fell bats, fell bats don't break ranks, and fell bats do not belong in combat with an enemy fighting character.

Spears are useless against cavalry. Skeletons never do a "decent amount of damage". Ghouls maybe, but not skeletons.

You repeatedly say your units are going to flank things, but with minimal magic and thus few or no Danse, you won't be flanking much.

I see your point.
The Sword of Might has the potential to be much more useful then the Sword of Battle.
On that note the Sword of Battle gives me an extra attack, and therefore a greater chance of hitting.

With the flying Vampire, again i see your point but even a chaos lord has only three wounds.
That is not to say that a chaos lord is weak or that every attack that i make is going to hit, let alone wound.

but what would you use as an alternative???

I'd drop some skeletons for knights as the unit looks kinda fragile. Also I'd have a wight king for battle standard brearer and put banner of barrows in that regiement and instead have banner of undying legion in your now stronger regiement of black knights, like 8 horses = 32 man with fighting vamp and that will autobreak many units on the charge. Infantry i find never break as many troops as cavalry does on the charge. I think you lack some killing power and lack the magic to make this an endurance fight.

The flying vampire is not really necesary and I'd drop him and add some wraiths who are an excellent choice for your empty rare slot.

Does the grave guard have shields or two-handers?

Somehow I just can't see the slow moving core of this army and all the fast flyers and cavalry keeping pace with each other.

If you want to assassinate an enemy character, you need re-roll hits at minimum and usually want high strength. It is still extremely unlikely to drop a lord-level fighter, becase he will have some serious saves.

It looks like a pretty nice list. A couple of points that stick out for me:

Sword of Battle is definitely worth changing on your lord. It's pretty much wasting points at the moment, because the lance he already has is better. 1 extra strength 5 attack is not as good as having strength 7.

The flying vampire is not much of a character assassin. Maybe mages, but most fighty heroes and certainly most army generals will wipe him out.

6 power dice in a magic relyent army = suicide!!! at 2000-2500 pts, i would never go into battle with less than 10 power dice as a bare minimum!!!

a solid caster lord is always handy to keep your army going. powers like master of the black arts for extra power dice and either dark acolyte for a 4th magic level or forbidden lore to talyor your magical lore to suit your opponent. (ie: against ogres, lore of shadow is killer because you can have your hammer units cause 'terror' and/or repeatedly cast pit of shades to take advantage of the ogres initiative poo!)
magic items like the hand of dust or staff of damnation make good offensive bound items.

a supportive caster vamp would have dark acolyte and depending on either avatar of death or the cadaverous cuirass... defensive/supportive items like the book of arkhan or the helm of commandment to make your main fighting block WS6!!! (take that chosen of chaos!)

a fighty vamp with the balefire spike for a cheapo S7 charge when mounted... or else a wight king w/sword of kings to support your black knights. banner of the barrows is a 100% must as black knights rely purely on their damage output for combat res...

the final supportive character is the necromancer, and hopefully on a corpse cart w/balefire to fudge with the enemy's wizard/s! he's your scroll caddy should you want the extra protection!

so a selection of 3 vamps + wight king = 10 power dice + 1-2 bound items.
OR!!!
3 vamps + necro = 11 power dice + 1-2 bound items.
that's magical dominance!!!

cheers!

Thanks for the input all.
@ Dreadlegions, i will drop both the normal Vampires and i *might* decide to go with two or three necros, maybe a Wight King BSB.

@ Dabber, What would i use as an alternative???

@ Anubis, I think i might go with the Balefire Spike and i was thinking of replacing the winged Vampire with a mounted one w/Master of the Black Arts, Cadaverous Cuirass and the Book of Arkhan.

Watcha think???

Just because you need a magic crutch in spite of using one the two best armies in the game, doesn't mean everyone need it
