Why not take lances instead? That unit shouldn't be in combat for more than 1 round and if they are then the enemy unit is already going to be hurting real hard! Then since you have the potion, if you end up getting stuck in combat then your lord will now be strength 8 instead of strength 7 like the previous round. You will also get to reroll failed hits with the VL, and you won't waste the potion (S7 and S10 will pretty much do the same thing). Also, great weapons are 2 handed meaning you can't use a shield in combat with them.

I would also drop the BSB, I don't think it will do you any good, nor do i think you will need it in combat. That unit will hit like a brick, and win combat against most anything, so you shouldn't have to worry about losing and needing the +1CR from the BSB, nor should you have to worry about losing and needing the -1 crumble. Then you are also risking giving up the 100 vp if they decide to try and kill a wight king (T5, 3W, and a 2+, good luck).

Just some food for thought. I like everything else though! Maybe drop the level 2 from the necro but even that can go either way.

I have the double handed weapons because there are plenty of beasties out there to hold this unit up. Plus if I end up in combat with a 1+ armor or a steam tank I want a guarentee its going down. I know what your saying about rerolls but since i still have quickblood for initiative order Vanhelms should give me that back.

Thanks for the input I will probably switch some things up after I use it today. I will report back.

The thing is, by kitting your VL to be able to handle any and all situations you're really gimping him in all aspects (what is good for everything isn't good for anything in particular). Zweihander is redundant if you take the potion in my opinion. Another thing to note is that if you're going to run your WK next to your VL you will force successful ward re-rolls on yourself due to OTS. I'm not sold on DG on your VL either, it's not like he's flammable or anything that you would need this 2++ vs fire. I know it's very cheap, but by getting rid of a couple of redundant cheap items and upgrades (BSB, DG, GW/PoS, Icon) you suddenly find yourself able to buy a spirit host or items that would be more useful in general (like a power stone for when you get snake eyes on winds in a critical moment).

In summary: You shouldn't really try and protect yourself from everything. If you instead make your army do one thing extremely well you'll be better off most of the time. Sure, there will come times when you find yourself unable to do much due to some specific gimmick or enemy setup. Overall you should have more success if you streamline your army to excel in one or two areas instead of trying to fit in everything (a lesson hard learned by myself).

Won vs Elves

Lost vs Empire (STANK generated 13 CR in a milti charge situation)

Killed one stank with a TG but erred by ignoring the other one. One turn of STR 10 attacks really shines against 1+ Armor
