Hi!

I`m new to this beautiful world of Warhammer and i have played a few games with my 1k army looking like this:

Master Necromancer

40x Skeleton Warriors

20x Zombie

5x Dire Wolves

5x Dire Wolves

6x Crypt Horrors

Varghulf

Me and my friend who plays an empire army are gona start uppgrading to 2500 points and i would love some help.
I kinda want to skip the Terrorgheist tho QQ
Is there a way to start aiming for 2500 points with the 1k army i have?

Love, lost swede.
<3

Oh you can easily bump up from this!

Do you want a vampire?
Do you like the Crypt Horrors?
What about Ghouls?
What about Mortis Engines?

Your 2,500 list could have 2 units of 8 crypt horrors, 2 mortis engines, and a big ole block of ghouls and you will beable to rock a whole lot of worlds with a list like that!

Vamps would be awesome!
I kinda like the idea of vamps and knights or grave guards but a alot of crypt horrors could be fun to.
The engines looks like a realy nice option but howe will they work vs a heave artilery army?

It depends... It can do considerable damage with impact hits, so you can use it as a support piece for your elite troops or you can kill small units with it, but I generally keep it out of combat until I suicide charge it into the enemy turn 5(so it's explosion is strength 5).

So howe would i build my army then? Go Crypt horrors or some grave gurds etc?
And any tactic advise would be realy nice too!
Asking for alot but i think i will learn the most
on this forum than in the rulebook befor i have the chanse to try it in a game .

Love you long time /Ove

We love you to buddy!!

Critique this list! I feel like it doesn't have enough paunch, but maybe that's just me.

Blender Lord (RF, QB, Ogre Blade, ToP, HA, S, OTS)

Deathcro (Lvl 4, Seed of Rebirth)

Necro (Vamps, Scroll)

20 Zombies w command

4x5 wolves

40 Ghouls w Ghast

2x8 Crypt Horrors w Haunter

2 Spirit Hosts

2 Mortis Engines

A repost of mine:

Hey mate, finally got some time in to reply to your post. So I think I'll run through
some of the ideas that I have regarding my own play style. First two links:

https://www.vampirecounts.net/Thread-Sunn...ge?page=16 I bit down on this page I present my
league list and the general idea, I recommend you read this first.

https://www.vampirecounts.net/Thread-Faci...gue?page=2 In this thread I
have made "to do list" against my Ogre opponent, valuable stuff there as well, although it might
be a bit army specific.

Master Class
I think the best way to make a thorough walkthrough of my playstyle is looking at each unit
separately.

Ghouls: I've found that these, which is a staple of most armies, die very fast. Even with the 36 that
I field in horde, most of them will explode in a gush of blood most games. But with Dual Engines
they do get a lot more resilience. So two tips: Get AT LEAST 40 in a unit and RECOGNIZE when the
Regen is gone... nothing worse than doing the math wrong because you relied on having your ME's alive
and nearby. I almost always field my VL with the Ghouls which makes them a target but also scares some
things away. Just get teh VL out in time if the unit is dwindling and it's about to get charged.

Zombs: Frankly these badboys look weak on paper, but they are such a cheap investment. To be honest
they've always been worth it, except for when my whole army was slowed down by them and couldn't
catch up with the fleeing Ogres :P I started bringin the zombs because of Blood and Glory and needed
banner toting cheap units so I wouldn't auto-lose. Just remember that the banner also gives +25 vps
which means that the unit actually gives away 90 vps if it gets killed in combat. I use the Zombs
for redirection, extra drops and often make heroic charges with them(where they oddly enough often
win against their enemy). For instance my skaven opponent had some gutterrunners standing on the edge
of the board and then I charged them with my Zombs: He couldn't flee because that would mean that he
would run over the board so he stood and shot. The Zombs shrugged it off won combat, the Gutterrunners
broke and got run down... that is a nice example of what the Zombs are actually capable of if you get
lucky. I guess this is a no-brainer for most veteran VC players but it's worth saying again:
Do not send the Zombs into multiple combats, they'll bleed CR like Khorne having his period. The
Zombs are also good as bunkers for your caster characters.

Spirit Hosts: These spooks are the most terrifying units in my army, or so my enemies seem to think.
They are insanely cheap, very hard to deal with and they function as a swiss-army knife: A tool
for every task. Recently I've played a fair bit against OnG. I'm also a Bret player so I have a
healthy respect for Fanatics, but with the SH Fanatics become a waste of points at best. So you move
your SH up so that it draws the fanatic out. Okay that's good, but any chaff can do that. But other
chaff can't walk right on top of the fanatic and kill it without getting hurt. Well this was just 1
example of the many great ways you can use a SH. So how do I play them? However nescessary. Keep
them out of range of magic missiles though, opponents will love blowing them up even though the SH
is so cheap. Yeah and the SH can hold up a unit of Mournfangs or Maneaters for a whole game...
Guess I don't have to explain the value in that. Yeah and because of their great movement you can
deploy them and your Zombs(6 drops in total) without committing to anything yet.

Vargheists: As you might know I'm not the gambling type. I like 3 vargs in a unit but they seem to
get pincushioned fairly fast so I thought up an alternative: 6 Vargs in a unit! They work wonders
if you have the patience for it. The idea is that they mostly function like a 3 man unit, but they
just don't give up their points like the smaller units do. 6 Vargs can get a flank charge on 4
Mournfangs with DHB and WIN!

Crypt Horrors: Okay so no introduction needed, these beasts are all over tournament lists. I have yet
to see my CH die to the last man. Just don't rely on them doing anything big in combat. They can grind
but grinding takes time and since my list doesn't have a level 4 LoV caster it's not like you'll
heal every wound in every magic phase. I use them as a screen for my ME's and I have them deployed
vs hardhitting matchups like Bloodletters(who melts away in CC against CH). I field them 5 wide.

ME's: I never stop loving these wagons. Like the SH they have so many uses:
1. Regen. Yeah, that's kind of the whole idea with the army build, but it's not it's only merit.
2. Screams. Sure it's not a TG but it's a scream worth around 100 points built into the unit.
3. Impact hits. Some units don't like d6 s5 hits, find out which and use it.
4. Damage Aura. Yeah, when you close in on your enemy this aura will FORCE the enemy to make some moves
if his whole army isn't going to dwindle away by the aura.
5. Explosions! This is one of the really cool things about the ME: If it dies it's often worse news
for your enemy than for yourself. This has actually become sort of a motto in my gaming group:
"kill it quick or don't kill it at all". grin
6. It can actually fight. Sure it's weak attacks but it's 11 attacks on average... that's not bad. A nice
addition to all the other perks.
Deploying the ME: I park the side ways 1" behind my CH, that way they are very hard to hit with cannons.

Vampire Lord: I'm not really a blender fan boy like many others. Maybe it's because I play too
conservatively. A mistake I made with this list was to not give the VL a 4++ and only Seed of Rebirth.
This is dangerous business because most games the ME's won't last and killing blows ignore regen. In
my case I guess a SGK would have been a better choice. Anyway, she's a beast in combat, but that
can't be new to anybody. 2++ against flaming attacks means that you can charge out of the unit with
the VL and obliterate anything carrying the Banner of Eternal Flame smile

Master Deathromancer: I LOVE THIS GUY! Death is so insane, right now I think it's by far the best lore in the
game. But that's for another time to go through the lore. Main thing is: Keep him at the frontline
but not so that he can be charged. This is very hard, but if you master it he can devastate armies
by himself. PSunning all day smile

Baby Necro: I bring this guy for three reasons alone:
1. DS
2. Back-up LoV caster if my VL dies. This is gold.
3. Another IoN. I like IoNs. Oh yeah I never even roll for spells on the VL and Baby I just say I
take IoN smile

Cant get the links to work :'(
But the rest looks just like something i need info info info <3 <3 xD

Dude, Sunny!! I wish I had this like a year ago! This is awesome stuff, and even now it helps with the ideas!

Few questions on some of the stuff though (I don't mean to steal your thread Ove, I'll be quick)

1. Vargs: Why would you run 1 unit of 6 instead of 2 units of 3? I always thought that the vargs were best at character sniping and War Machine hunting. Am I missing a hidden potential here?

2. Crypt Horrors: Why are these such a stapple? I run 2 Gheists instead of 2 ME's so I don't see much of a point of running these guys unless I still just use the screen idea. But even then that is a whole lot of points for a screen that doesn't work as well for the large base of the TG. And I get their usefulness as a tar pit but wouldn't you want the tarpit points coming out of core?

3. ME's: Are they overall better than TG's? I don't own any thus I've never used them, but they just don't quite do it for me on paper. Also do you like the tome?

4. Blender: Have you tried it with the 4++? I must say that since I've been getting better she just never goes away! I mean maybe 1 wound that I get back after a turn.

5. SGK: I've wanted to try 1, I've just never had the feel good feeling about a build. How would you kit yours out?

6. Deathro/P-Sun: I have been considering a suicide bomber vamp hero with flying horror and lore of death. I want to take P-Sun on him so he can fly straight out of a unit into the flank of the opponent and P-sun across their army line. Thoughts?

You're welcome Corien(I take rep if you don't have cash ;) )

1. As I mentioned in the above post I'm a control freak who doesn't like when his units die(Don't play warhammer then Sunny I hear you say... yes I know), which is why I prefer a unit of 6 Vargs. They have the durability that a unit of 3 doesn't and they hit like a ton of bricks. There's not much more too it really... durability. Also they can deal with nasty stuff like Mournfangs.

2. You don't need ME's to make CH great. They are insane just on their own. Toughness 5 and 5+ regen for that low cost? Yes please and thank you! They are probably the best anvil in the game, only beaten by Beasts of Nurgle... but Beasts of Nurgle don't raise 1+level...

3. I don't know really. I mean I almost instantly lose if I bring TG's so I would say yes. Other people love TG's... mine just get shot down by poison attacks or attilery. The BT is okay if you spam level 1 Necros.

4. Yes as I wrote 4++ is the way to go, seed of rebirth is too risky in my experience.

5. I love the SGK, she's dirt cheap and wrecks face. I normally kit her with Potion of Strength, Sword of Bloodshed and DBG.

6. It's gimmicky and fun, but I wouldn't do it in a competetive list because you risk spending a lot of points on a squishy flying vamp who doesn't roll PSun and there for is obsolete.

Steal the thread as mush as you want, then i dont have toask the questions with my bad english xD

Cant get the links to work tho so i can see the army list etc. :'(

If you guys ever need a kidney or similar, i will be glad to donate one!
Thanks for all the hepl!

Just a small addon to Sunny and Comaris. It looks like you take the minis you like. This won't win any games. Make sure you have at least these 2 options available.

zombies and dire wolves are indeed cannon fodder, CH and Varghulfgs are not :

zombies can block anything so finish off the rest with the specials and rares.

CH : these are good but watch out for slowness and use their high T.
Varghulf : these are very good but expensive, on a sidenote, a stone troll for xx points is better than a varghulf pointwise. Th VG has 1W extra.

Thnaks for all the help and info, will do some math on a few diffrent armies and will most likely be back with some more noobish questions :|xD:|

Hi, im back with a few questions or more a pls help me thing again

Is there a way to build a good army with focus on Grave guards, knights, some casting and vamps but without the fluffy engines, TG`s and ethereal units?
It dosent have to be the winner of tournaments kind of army but still do a bit of ump.
Asking mainly cause of a little ide me and a friend playing empire have, we have a few old penn and paper scenarious that we are trying to fit in a 5-6 games long story game. Darnit my english fails me when trying to explain this but maybe some of you get what im aiming at QQ

/Ove the clueless ™

Hmm, is this still 2,500?

I would assume that you're going for the idea that the vamps are dropping the empire and making new soldiers that way? That is why you do not want large monsters or obscure units? You could use a whole bunch of zombies, a big block of Grave Guard, skellies, and Black Knights to achieve this. You don't need the big toys for a good army, but it sure does help!

Yes, still 2500.
Yea is it possible to have a few vamps in some Grave guard or knight units and just go nuts?
And still have a nice magic phase?
