So, i was thinking, i have this massive core-troops army lying around (well not that massive, but still pretty substantial. I wanted to get a list out of it. Using as much of the 50 ghouls, 60 zombies, 100 skeletons i got laying around.

so this is the list i came up with. Its been a while since i went with VC. please let me know what you think.

Im not using any WD rulesettings and such since i dont have them.

The only major thing I would change in your list is the Black Knight unit. For the price of 14 BK's, you could easily afford 20+ GG with Great Weapons. They're really a much better bet in the 8th edition, as can units are really hard-pressed to win prolonged combats these days, although the solid Strength and Toughness of BK's will help in that regard. Honestly, you're probably going to be much more successful using your Varghulves as flankers and using a nice solid block of GG to anchor your line.

Also, maybe take a BSB? You'd be surprised at how handy it can be, and I'm not sure how much you really need the Necromancer if you bump up your Lord to Level 3 (a level 3+ caster is really a necessity in games of above 2000 points because your opponent will very likely come at you with the same).

Hi,
Are the skellies used as a bunker for the Lord?
if yes you should:
1) Get a standard
2) Get a musician (for quick reforms)
3) maybe get a magical standard
If you do not go for 1&2, there's no use for skellies as a bunker, you could as well take ghouls then.

Very valid points!
I will certainly add those command options (it seems as i have forgotten them)
As for the graveguard note. i like my GG's. But i want an overwhelming theme for my army. I even had trouble adding the fell bats in since they cost a whopping 100 points and i can get 25 zombies for that! :P

as you might have guessed, its more of a fun list. but it should be able to win me some games every now and then.
btw. I was thinking about using either shadow magic or metal...
opinions about this? light should be good too i guess... but have troubles deciding. really liking the 'taste' of metal though!

it all depends on wether you know who you are playing or not!!! and aye, the lores aforementioned are all very valid. but never underestimate the vampires lore. its really quite good. having said that, i am not a huge fan of the lore of metal - unless i know im fighting armored troops. as a general list i avoid it as it is not as effective against non armored goons. i recomend a more mid range, adaptable lore, like... ahem.... death or vampires. (oh yeah and beasts can be great)

In a game of 2000pts or more you will always see me with a metal wizard, whether I am facing ogres or warriors. Given we get instant access to all the spells, I can always ensure I have my glittering robe/ enchanted blades of aiban. Both of these are very good spells and final transmutation, while not being as powerful as the other "wonder" spells, will always pack the same punch against your foes. very useful against elves with their high initiative. There is also none of the risk of pit of shades/ purple sun and it is good fun to see the entire enemies' army go stupid. so you might have guessed by now, but I'd reccoment lore of metal (especially if you changed those ghouls for some more of those skellies, 3+ armour in blocks of 40 ;P

You should hang on to the knights. They can actually be very strong, but need character support and needs the list to be built around them. I´ll write a tactica once I try the knight bus myself xD.

well, giving them the banner of barrows (if thats allowed) will be as far as i go. (probablty just the hatred banner)
i dont think a wight king would add that much extra to the unit and putting in a vampire would be kind of crappy since they lose their ethereal movement which i really want to utilize.
That really makes it an awesome unit in my opinion.

So i guess i will have to think about this some more.
also, lore of metal is defeneatly in! now to decide what to do with the coretroops. Really liking the skeletons and zombies modelwise/fluffwise. and really liking the ghouls statline, the models i dont like that much. (though i got a decent load of the old metal ones. which are oke :P if anyone wants to sell those in region BeNeLux.. feel free to PM me :P)
