Hey guys bit rusty on Vamp counts but bringing them back out and up for any ideas on reshaping this to turning into as competitive as possible.

Figured, Lore of Vamps x4 with the following list.

Master Necromancer, level 4 wizard, master of the dead, talisman of preservation, Dispell Scroll

Necromancer
Necromancer
Necromancer

30x Skeleton Warriors, skeleton champion, musician, standard bearer
30x Skeleton Warriors, skeleton champion, musician, standard bearer
30x Zombies, musician, standard bearer
25x Zombies, musician, standard bearer
6x Varghiest, varghoyle
10x Black Knights, Musician, Standard Bearer
Terrorghiest
Terrorghiest

Total: 1996

I think the double terrorgheists is the bread & butter of the list, but I'm rusty and need help on reshaping this list to the most ideal/ competitive 2k list .

Hey! Welcome back to the forum buddy! Lets see what we can do to give you a hand!

1. Master of the dead is a bit iffy. There are a lot better things that you could be spending those points on and the extra skellies realllly don't help to much.
2. Switch the dispell scroll from the lord to one of the heroes. If the level 4 ever fails a dispell then he cannot use the scroll in the same phase.
3. I would suggest a hero level vamp in there unless you're super against having a vampire in which case you can ignore this point lol.
4. The black knights really need character support which is where point number 3 comes in at. A single vamp hero can make that unit shine, although most people like to see atleast 2 vamps in a unit of 13 black knights.
5. 2 TG's are great, keep them both!
6. The Vargs are better when ran in 2 units of 3, each with a champ.
7. Those zombies will probably do you better as 1 unit of 20 and 1 unit of 35. You want 1 unit to be a bunker where you can stick your necro's and another unit for tar pitting.

As far as actual strategic advice, I'm nervous that you have no chaff in this army. Consider throwing a couple units of 5 dire wolves or a couple bases of spirit hosts in this list. The strategic advantage of chaff can really turn the game in your favor!

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions at all!!

So with Corien's Assistance , the list has been remodeled into the following: (Open for Opinions!)

Vamp Lord (Lvl 4, Barded Nightmare, Lance, LoV, RF, QB, ToP, OTS, HA)
Wight King (Lance, Steed, Night Shroud, Iron Curse Icon, Sheild)

55 Zombies (Banner, Musician)
55 Zombies (Banner, Musician)
4x5 Wolves

13 Black Knights (Command, Lance, Barding, Banner of Swiftness)

TG
TG

1999/2000 pts

It's definitely better. BK's work best with vamps sitting alongside them to provide combat resolution.
This archetype can be harder to use at the 2K level than in a standard 2500 point game as you can't include vargheists or hexwraiths. It should perform well, however, just watch out for warmachines.

I like that 2nd list. Just make sure that you're rolling a low number of dice (1 - 3 dice per casting) with that Lord. You can't afford to lose him or any Black Knights in the unit (even if you can raise them back up).

Okay , for the list It's between the 2 options for the Vampire Lord and seeking input on which would be better.
Both are 505 Points so Need ideas/suggestions on shaving 5 points without sacrificing much/any survivability.

Vamp Lord (Lvl 4, Barded Nightmare, Lance, LoV, RF, QB, ToP, OTS, HA) into
Vamp Lord (Lvl 3, Barded Nightmare, Ogre Blade, LoV, RF, QB, ToP, OTS, HA, Enchanted Shield)

505/500 points on both

Think Charmed will be better than Enchanted?
Charmed- discount the first hit suffered on a 2+ (1 time only)
Enchanted- bearer counts his armor save as 2 higher, as opposed to 1 with a regular shield.

Also Editted List to make the Lord legal.....lookin' Good now!

Vamp Lord (Lvl 3, Barded Nightmare, OB, LoV, RF, QB, ToP, HA, CS, DBG)
Wight King (Lance, Steed, Barding, NS, ICI, Shield)

55 Zombies (Banner, Musician)
55 Zombies (Banner, Musician)
5 Dire Wolves
5 Dire Wolves
5 Dire Wolves
5 Dire Wolves

13 Black Knights (Command, Lance, Barding, Banner of Swiftness)

TerrorGheist
TerrorGheist

Currently 1997/2000

24.75% Lord
7.95% Hero
25.5% Core
19.15% Special
22.5% Rare

I like it!! The reason I like the charmed shield is because having 1 less armor save and getting to ignore a potential life threatening wound is a good thing! Some one comes in with a runefang (Empire weapon that Auto wounds and doesn't allow armor saves) and they have 3 attacks then your vamp will be pretty safe since you're ignoring 1 hit and your AS at that point will be worthless. Also, Cannons.

The list looks good, liking the lord build and his unit.

The Wight king is not really a needed addition, Personally I would say try to get a vamp in there with quick blood, lance, HA and shield on a Barded Nightmare as he would do allot more than the WK but it comes down to points.

I just used a BK bus with a LV 3 Lord blender at my last Throne Of Skulls and Won every match just missing out on best vamp player, I however only took 1 terrorghiest in 2000 points. (Thought it would be friendlier)

However i am concerned about the core.
You have a good amount of wolves but the zombies will do nothing and the units are too large for watch tower.

I myself Ran a unhitable vampire in 40 skeletons, ghouls and two units of dire wolves.
Now i would advise 2 units of 30 Zombies over the Ghouls but I think it will have a better application at these points, zombies can't do toffee, at least skeletons will have some saves.
Zombies were only a good option when you have a big summoning list.

You can't have DBG and ToP on your vamp lord as they are both talismans, you'd have to ditch teh DBG (unless i've got my achronyms wrong :P )

Nope, I was reading this in work so was not paying much attention but you are right.
For some reason as well I thought it was the helm but then he could not have the charmed shield.

To be honest though the gem does not really bring much so cutting its a none issue.

DBG is just a filler since I'm limited on points anyways, can't go over 500 on the lord and might as well take that instead of leaving a larger point gap from 2000

Looks good , looks good,

i follow the point on getting a vamp intead of the wight king, just for damage out put.

I think u should play test the list a bit, and see how the flow goes, i prefer 5 units of 20 zombies, where u have 2 of 55 =)
